I'm with Juggs on this one. There are much better ways to 'escape' than to repeatedly post traced images and swear up and down in the face of encouragement and suggestions that they were honest to goodness attempts at art. I don't know how much of the situation you are aware of for that particular meltdown, but it didn't start off as a dog-pile. Quite a few people, Juggs most of all, tried to help him improve because he seemed so earnest.

Blaming your situation on your behavior is no excuse. A lack of accountability on his end did him in. He refused to understand why people were calling him on his tracing (or even willing to own up to it), and when push came to shove, tossed his daughter and wife at us to avoid blame.

If any of his home situation were true, then he didn't come here to escape. He came here to lash out against the unfairness in his life. I have no empathy for people like that.

Oh I am not aware of everything by any means, and I am simply talking about THIS thread and the one brought up. As for not having empathy for those who are lash out in pain and anguish, well I would say they are the ones who need the empathy the most. At least that is my oppinion. Finally. I just simply disagree with the formation of THIS thread. I can't see how it helps the community to grow by looking at old flame wars. In fact I could see it being damaging in the end.

Firstly, I have talked to people here aside when I noticed they seemed off the exact same way others have done the same for me.

You've also done your share of coming close to losing it.

Secondly, you went on the assumption that he was lying, and that was/is you choice, but did you ever consider that you might be WRONG, and if you are/where then you and everyone else who piled on in that thread, no matter HOW he acted, should be ashamed of yourselves.m I teach grade 6s with more empathy then that. However, I do agree with you that rules do need to exist, but the enforcement of those rules ships be measured in certain circumstances

He WAS lying - about his art. I, and others, spend lots of time trying to help him, and time and again it turned out that he had stolen the image from somewhere. He even tried to enter a stolen image into pummel.

So yes, he's a liar and a cheat.

Thirdly, even if he was lying what does rehashing the entire thread accomplish for the community? Is it just entertainment "HEE HEE look we made the little douche cry HEE HEE". Is it an opportunity to just thrash people we didn't particularly like? In the end what does this thread bring to the PJ community? Is it building or enhancing it in ANY way? If it is I am sorry I can't see it, and as a mod I would think that any thread were people were/are intentionally ridiculing someone would be one that you would be trying to keep to many sparks from flying. Not throwing gas on the fire and throwing the burning match yourself.

You don't like this thread - that's fine.

These are fires that burned long ago... and are referenced time and time again.

They're already scattered around this forum - for all to see.

Finally, in the end the community survives these blowouts, but they are not our proudest moments. I think that if anybody thinks it is FUN to watch someone get torn down they should remember that this is suppose to be a site dedicated t o the support and education of those interested in out craft. Not a jocks locker room.

U can post in other places (ur gallery/blog thread, the upper half forum). Why even bother with pummel when u got sheet going on in ur life? OH HAY GUISE THIS IS MY PUMMEL PIECE GO EASY ON ME I GOT ISSUES TO DEAL WITH. geez.

Wow if you knew the SHIT I have dealt with while trying to get a piece in to avoid a no show as to not let my opponent down you wouldn't be bring this up. Some of us do our best to honour our commitments, and when we can't we bow out early.

I left PUMMEL for awful reasons, and I haven't been back because my life is just SO damn busy, but not everyone is that conscious of their feels, behaviors, and actions. So yeah I would cut someone a little slack if no rules were brocken, and I would show them some empathy given their apparent situation.

I just come here to post my art and critique others, and have unfortunately had to deal with way more bullshit than I care to over the years, frm people who've gone off the deep end for one reason or another. Shit happens in life, and I don't understand why anyone would come to an art forum to vent their business and make others miserable. All I know is that when its disruptive to the purpose of the site, I have a responsibility to the rest of the community to deal with it and solve problems when they arise. For doing that, I've been harrassed by people I've banned, had people threaten physical harm, and just be general scum. So I have a very low tolerance for any bs, no matter what excuses are made after the fact. It might be cold, but its not my responsibility to find out why someone has gone full loon on an art forum. I just have to nip it in the bud so things can return to normal for the sake of the forum.

Oh, I agree. I just can't muster up any for people who hide behind it as if it justifies their actions.

Y'know, I shook my head at the formation of this thread when it first started. I shoulda kicked Juggs in the shins for starting it. Seeing as this ain't doing anyone any good, and that you (and others) are completely right about this thread, it's time to close it.

Unless someone can explain why we're gloating over old flameouts (and yeah, it looks like gloating. Sorry) in the next couple posts, I think this thread's bound for lockdown.
