I like the direction Pell is going with this, he just didn't go far enough in that direction to get my vote. Great stuff both of you.
There are only two kinds of artists: Bad artists and bad artists who refuse to quit.

Mana, Awesome use of light...and this is a pretty strong sketch. I would like to see some of Batman's neck, even at that angle you would see some of it. Practice fabric drawing from life and photos to make your cape more realistic. Over all, very well drawn and the shading is top notch.

Pell, very ambitiouse work. Forshortning is tough to master but your going in the right direction. Some simple things I can suggest to improve your work on as your practicinig, is focus on your line work. When you dont ink a peice, the quality of your line work becomes the focus. Thick and thin lines will help add weight and make your work pop of the page better. The technique I use is to sketch to perfect my anatomy and composition then lay a clean peice of paper on top of my sketch on a light table and perfect my line art. This is just my method. Some other artists use non repo blue pencils to sketch then draw directly on top of that. Here is a link to some of my buddies art. Im just showing it to you as an example of someone I think has premier clean line art.

My vote would be for mana, only because his peice is more pollished, I think Pell's is more dynamic.

Thanks for the comments and critiques, drawdan. Dynamic is my strength, and finishing a piece is my great weakness that I need to work on. I will check out your friend's work when I get home to a better Net connection.

Also, thanks to Sketchbook and the other people who left encouraging comments that were lost to the server move. I will do better next time. And mana-boozy turned in an excellent piece here.

I 100% agree! Although mana's Batman head is not positioned correctly IMO.
