You could dedicate the last two or three pages to a completely different (or a semi-related) short story. I've seen that in some comics and it's normally pretty fun.
This is great info.

@ssss6eight1--thanks for the suggestion.
@juggertha: your drawings and tutorials are spot on. I like Hulk anatomy and Molotov Cocktease.
I took F! suggestion and did some rearranging for a cold opening. A couple of two-page spreads and eliminating an entire page I somehow wound up with 22 pages exactly. Now, to let it sit and stew for a few days before I go back and do another rewrite. I think I'll rough out issue #2 a bit more.
Thanks for the suggestions and explanations.

Sorry about the bump, but I have question. Is there a way to post a script as a pdf, without having to copy and paste it into the body of the post?
Good stuff here,
Slightly off topic but maybe on is placement of pages.
Page 1 is generally a single page
Pages 2 & 3 open out, so the option for a splash ( or whatever ) is there...
Afterwards you'll need to figure which may be dedicated to ads or features.
I'm only mentioning this as some writers recommend a hook/link between the final panel of one page and the beginning panel of the next.
So this would be applicable between page 1 and page 2, but not necessarily between page 2 and 3 as a reader typically won't have to turn the page between them. ( the act of turning the page being considered to disrupt the readers flow, the hook designed to draw them back in to the new page ).
This makes the placement of adverts and features something of a minefield unless your publisher has given you a rule of thumb to go by.
@Zepster...I did rewrite page one as a splash and made pages 2-3 as a two page spread.
On side note, when I initially posted about page lengths, I asked if 18 pages was an acceptable. The industry standard is 22 pages, with some being more. I found one of my Godslayer issues (#7) and it is 18 pages in length. Dunno if that's just a McFarlane or Image thing, but it worked. I won't shorten mine. F!'s suggestion of a cold opening seems to make the story more interesting and does pull the reader in. Well, I hope it does.
And I asked previously, but received no answer, is there another way to post a script or some of it w/out having to put it in the body of the post?
Comics cost more and have less interior pages now at a meager 20 interior and one cover....Unless it's a special issue with a backup in it or something.
Just thought I would send a link of a discussion about the 20 page count....You all were getting ripped off two pages and didn't know it lol.....I'm laughing WITH you.

Definitely useful. Thanks
