What has Image got to do with this?
Why Kickstarter and not one of the numerous “independent” publishers? Well, for one thing Humberto and I feel the book retains its true spirit if published and guided every step of the way by its two creators. We are huge fans of publishers that promote creator owned work – and we’re more than happy working with the good folks at DC and Marvel – but we want to try and bring this directly to the fans ourselves. Also, it’s all well and good bringing copies to conventions but there were so many fans that would not be in attendance. We realized the emergence of Kickstarter provided a perfect opportunity both for us, and for those fans who want their own hardbound copy of Fairy Quest. So we have decided to do a special print run of this hardbound edition, which will appear approximately twelve months before the release of the mass market English version. This means we can bring the hardcover, high-end version exclusively to the Kickstarter community.

Image doesn't give you money, Kickstarter does.
theres your answer.
That artwork is beautiful. Fantasy stuff like this is not normally my thing, but I'd be into reading this.
Pretty cool! And here's hoping (with all the fairy tale derived TV shows and 2x Snow White movies this year) this will bring more new comic fans as well!
Or will drive existing fans away coz o' the glut of fairy tale derived comics!
