    Angry Strarhmore 500 Warning

Hey guys I don't know if anyone's picked up on this one yet,but I recently ordered some Strath 5 from Blick, both the packs ,(which I usually get),and for the first time the TABLETS.I noticed on the feed back section the 500 getting poor reviews.(Oh,and this is the plate surface.)I have been getting the packs for a while now from Blick, and have always been more than satisfied.(Blick has good prices),but the price for the packs have went up,but the tablets not so much.A little cheaper. The tablets got the bad reviews, and having tried them side by side<i can see why. There is a noticeable drop in quality. It's still not bad board, but not worth what it costs. So if you can shell out a few more bucks and get the Packs.9Which are still great. The beat board I;ve ever drawn on.And I've tried most everything.)It's worth it.Again this is for the PLATE SURFACE.
Just thought I'd give a heads up,just in case anyone out there has some extra bread, and looking to spend some on some nice board. So no one hopefully feels ripped off.
    Remember:Plate packs=Good!
    Plate Tablets=Bad!
    At least in my experience.
    Alright peace,
    I'm out.
    Trav!

yeah its been that way for a while now and I know several inkers that have run into the problem including myself. Its a cheaper quality paper hands down. Just put down the extra few bucks and get a pack and leave the pads alone.

Thanks for the update. I had planned to buy the cheaper tablets. Screw the money. I'll part with the extra bucks for the quality.
Thanks again for posting this Dynkblade, and for confirming the report Benjonesart!

I love strat 500, but they really need pure white paper instead of that creme colored stuff.

Makes original art look way better.

yeah depends on what kind of light is hitting it, sometimes it looks really creamy and then sometimes it looks bright white. I think the EON boards had a great white to them

I too hate that creme color. I just figured they did not want to hit the board with bleach to make it white. Bleach would change the PH levels.

    Benjonesart:
All I have used for the past few years has been the Strathmore papers. What is EON? How should I search for that in Google? I would really like to dump the Strathmore boards for something that is white, or at least test it.

I have the first wave of his comic boards, and they are pretty damn good. That was about 2 years ago tho, and they have vastly improved them since them. They weigh more etc, much like the strat.

They are extremly white. Makes inks look amazing. Costs about 1 dollar per board in bulk.

Yeah, Eon is good paper. Got a bit pissed when they thickened it up since a lot of my inking process used to involve lightboxing, but I've adjusted and it takes my brush and pens great.
