    Weekly Sketch Group #252

    Weekly Sketch Group #252

Welcome to Weekly Sketch Group #252! Every PJ member is welcome to post a sketch (or as many as you like ) in the weekly sketch group, so please join us this week and every week! Got a great idea for a sketch group topic you would like to draw or see your fellow artists draw? Just PM me the details and I'll endeavor to include it in a future installment!

    Here's this weeks topics:

    1. The Enchantress and The Enforcer: Asgardian baddies, one hot, one not !

    2. Movie Badasses: Jack Burton (Kurt Russell) vs the Thing ( John Carpenter's Alien from the 1982 film)

    3. Original Character or Concept:
    Baron Cimetier
    by Greg Anderson

Baron Cimetier is the Vodou Ghede Loa of Cemeteries, a spirit of the Dead. He's based on the Vodou Loa of the same name in the Haitian mythology culture and is the son of the Loa of the Dead, Baron Samedi.

The way I imagine him (and write him) is that he is very skinny, so much so that it’s disturbing, nearly resembling a skeleton with fully white eyes. He has wild nappy hair and is only wearing dirty, rundown pants that are being held up around his bony waist by a dead snake. In one of his hands is a staff made of out a human’s spine.

Cimetier guards cemeteries and makes sure they aren't disturbed in any way. He can only appear in cemeteries, mostly specific ones that belongs to the UnderUnderworld community (underground Magick community) but can appear if soil/dirt from his cemetery is out of it's place. Ex: if someone took a patch of dirt from his cemetery and placed in someone else's apartment, he'd appear in that apartment. He is one of the closest friends of my main protagonist Jeremy Tableau. Cimetier is a bit of a moral compass for Jeremy despite his morbid appearance and background. He is generally kind hearted and tries to see the good in everything, but can have a mean streak when pushed too far.

And there you have it my fellow sketchers! Sharpen those pencils and start sketching!

Big Trouble in Little China's Jack Burton?

    Question:

For the second sketch, are we talking about K.R.'s character in The Thing, or Big trouble in Little China?

Ooooh! Good question! I better turn in my official Geek-membership for not catching this one ! This was a request from a PJ member and I just cut and pasted this time out. I plumb forgot that Kurt Russell's character was named MacReady in Carpenter's THE THING! Yup, just draw Mr. Russell doing something badass, I'm not going to be a stickler !

@Hyde: Great job! You are definitely fastest pencil in the west ! I like the sketches too!
@Dan: Dig the Enchantress! Very feminine, nice!
@vrblknch: Great sketches! I love JC's The Thing, especially the ending with Childs and Macready sort of waiting one another out. Hollywood would never make a movie with that ending today

And here's a quick Enchantress and her boy-toy the Executioner I drew up this evening:
