oh how i wish that my practice inking were all like that.. I am losing my touch after resting for 6 months with sketching

A few days ago I decided I needed some practice inking. I did a google search for some pencils I could print out and foind some boards of a series I've never heard of called "Fear Agent". I used the colorize function in photoshop to turn it blue and printed it out.
I started at the upper left. I initially tried a brush, but I only had some ruined ones that started to split, so after completely ruining the hair of the girl I exchanged it for my trusty nib pen (I use a Brausse arrow point).
Here you can see the comparison between the original and my inking.
It was a bit uncomfortable to ink because I had it printed out on an A4 page (almost equivalent to Letter size). so there were many parts too small. I also did a little experimentation with outlining the shadows on the background and didn't much like the result.
So, feel free to tell me how I could have done this any better.![]()

2 cents= Great practice, but I think you lost the girl crying in your inks. Also I would have loved to see you really spice things up with the alien inside the jar. You should have just had more fun with that. Also I think you should try for a little more separation next time. The fore, mid, and back ground all kind of wash together here.

Your losing a lot of mid tones by ignoring the line work and just going with spot blacks. And you need to get out the french curve for the robot's glass dome. Also, the sprig of hair coming off the top of her head got lost in the inks and has blended into the guy's face.
