Just a quick question. You said you used some references. How did you use them exactly? Are the poses an exact match?

I never trace.
So yes I use refs for some poses because it's hard to get it just right, Some I use for inspiration. And some i use like the pitt/hulk one, I just drew it as is, and coloured it in my style.
My dad is a great artist, but he is like me, he finds it very hard to draw stuff on his own, it's almost like a mind block, noone has ever been able to explain why. Like me he can draw something and have it look like a carbon copy, but if he trys to draw something from memory it never looks right.
Me i am not as bad as him, I can draw alot from memory, and I am training myself to draw this way, I do still use refs for poses and inspriration, But i am really trying to not draw copies of stuff.
Hope this explains it?.

IDK when excatly pummels start, but to be honest the time from now to then I will be studing so Maybe in a week or so we can face off on something, I am doing portraits right now, This is one of my weak areas, so i need to give it 100% of my time.
I'm sure we'll face up very soon(Insert evil laugh)
Don
My advice then... because I'm fairly similar - take your own reference pics.

I voted lightweight with serious trepidation, because when I viewed these images, something just didn't seem right. And once I saw the Superman image above, even larger red flags went up about the initial images.
The boldness of the statement about never tracing seemed to be followed by a very bellowing "BUT..." and it's got me a little cautious. But what do I know?
Good luck to you. PUMMEL is fast becoming the premiere feature of Penciljack, so have a blast if nothing else.
Money can't buy you happiness, but it will pay for the search.
I am very happy you worded your post they way you did, Because if you had done it any other way, it would have sounded like you were calling me a liar????.![]()
Honestly, if i am gonna have to defend every piece of art i submit to this site, then maybe i made the wrong choice joining?. I am not getting defensive, I am just getting a funny feeling that i will be the one on defensive and ppl will be contantly acussing me of tracing, or making the fact that i use ref's a bigger deal then needs be.
I would like to also know how one goes about tracing a pencil drawing????, I don't own a light box so the superman pic i drew would be hand drawn , using only a ref for the pose.
This is making me sick to my stomach, I need to get off here for a bit.
I realized after I voted and posted that you were the new member that posted the PITT/Hulk cover duplication.
I'm not trying to come down too hard on you, but you need to understand that, in PUMMEL, original work is not only the rule, but anything else will get you booted. In the case of the PITT/Hulk image you posted, it looked like it was directly copied from the cover of the comic book. No, it wasn't traced, but imho, if you're going to reproduce something like a Dale Keown cover, you may as well trace it if you even want to get close to that level.
My intention wasn't to run you off, but I promise you, the moment you post a PUMMEL piece that seems "lifted," you will be called out on it.
