Sorceress WIP - need some quick help!

Hey, guys. This is for my pummel entry, and I'm cutting it much close to the deadline than I normally do. I've got this weekend to get this thing painted... and need a few sets of fresh eyes to look at it before I put too much time into it.

It's supposed to be The Sorceress putting some light-magic mojo onto the baddies.



Draw overs are VERY welcome... as is any advice I can use to tweak this. I don't think I have time to start from scratch/concept, but if you see an easy fix to add to this, I'm all ears (at least for a day or so... before I really start to paint).

Any thoughts?

Loston, thanks for all the help. So much of it is EXACTLY spot on. Heading to bed now, but looking forward to re-sketching this in the morning.

Anyone else have anything to suggest?

i was going to suggest, considering the angle of the figure in the foreground,
we would see a bit of his nose, back of the ear, etc., but Loston has got that pretty much
covered. in his layout you lose some of the figure on the right side mid-ground, which
is cool. i think the overlap creates some depth. however if you go with your
original layout here's a suggestion for the anatomy on the left arm...

Thanks, MJames, that looks much tighter. I just might end up being able to see a portion of that arm anyway, so best to correct it.

I think this is really good. The only one who looked a bit off was Tri-clops and the draw over shows the correction. Be interesting to see it done with whatever magic effect she's using.

I was in such a big hurry to complete the overlay for you that I forgot to mention something. I think this has the potential to be one of your very best works of art. I really like your visual layout, and I think with some tweaks, this piece could really be very eye catching. Good stuff from you, man.

I've gotta say, I was working on this today... getting into the flats, and getting really discouraged. These are some ugly looking coloured beasts.

I'm hoping the rendering will pull this one through. bfowler is going to be one tough guy to face off against.

Got time to post a WIP on the colors Ed? I think you've got a composition here, so as long as you exercise good control over those values, this should come out well.
