Holds 20X Its Weight In Liquid
A survival game starring a grizzled reluctant hero and his young girl partner? It'll be kind of awkward releasing this around the time Naughty Dog's "Last of Us" comes out...
I mean, I'll check it out regardless, because hey- Walking Dead!- but they should still rethink it a bit.
Well, I played through the first 2 chapters of this game, and boy, its it good. Its a slower game, where you focus on personal relationships with other characters, and your often forced to take sides when two or more people have different opinions on what to do. Choices you make during dialog scenes actually affect the story later on, in the first game and the second (yes, its similar to Mass Effect, but I would say the end result is even more critical in this game).
Theres Walkers of course, but they don't show up all the time, so when they do it has more of an impact and creates a lot of suspense in the moment. I had a few "oh shit"" moments playing through this game. You end up caring about the character your trying to survive with, and when theres tough choices to make, -helping one character of the other- its hard to choose which to save. Anyone can die at any time in the game.
So is anyone else playing it?
I really like it so far...I wish they had a better budget for the graphics, but the voiceacting and story are tops. It pulls off that story and choice driven gameplay that Heavy Rain was pushing for but never quite nailed.
At the moment I'd say I'm enjoying it more than the show, so take that as you will.
I am in love with this game, i haven't beaten the second chapter yet, but i love the simplicity, and the pacing of the game. It makes small things have more suspense nad is scary. Resident Evil just tries to make things bigger and crazier every game, and I think the real key is to keep it simple.
