My son asked me to draw Deadpool falling from a building. The camera view is birdseye. I haven't drawing the building in perspective yet, but that will be towards the bottom. Will also draw something in the middle representing streets below.

    Critiques are welcome.

I think you might want to push the perspective and foreshortening of his foot that is coming toward us.

When tackling angles like that it is best to plan out the background first. Or at least create the perspective grid so that the buildings and the character are properly places with one another. I also have to be honest with you the way your figure is posed doesn't make me feel as if its birds eye or anything other view than a straight on angle. trust me man make that grid first it will make all the difference.

It might also be helpful to pull out a scrap piece of paper and do some small thumbnails of how you would like the scene to look or the way you see it in your mind. After 3-4 of those, you may have a better feel for where you are going with the finished product. The guys pose seems a little stiff (thus, the stick figure thumbs.)

Your figure is very clumped together. Limbs will very often enhance the sense of motion in a figure. Right now your Deadpool looks more like a quadriplegic as you're hiding ALL of his limbs. His left lower leg is folded behind him, his right upper leg is lost in the foreshortening, his right arm is parallel to his torso and follows the same lines and his left arm tight to his body and ends at the width of his upper body. Try to pose your figure so that limbs are perpendicular to the torso so they are obvious and enhance the "action line" you've laid down for the figure by indicating twist and/or momentum.

I've done a quick ballpoint sketch to illustrate:

Notice how the arm across the body extends past the opposite shoulder and how the right arm is angled away from the body. The left leg still shows a foot, though in shadow and the right leg, while still foreshortened and in a foreward position, is angled lower so that more of it is showing. The arms were aided with a bit of a torso twist, while the legs were just angled down a bit. Also notice the action line that can be drawn from the head down through the foot. The limbs help that line and rely on that line at the same time. That's really the key to any good action pose.

Don't trust me. Trust John and Stan:
