Great job by both. I was looking forward to this fight. Your styles are very similar. Think I'll need some time before I vote.Well done.

    This is a tough one.

Hyde - Montage pics are exceedingly difficult. Overall you handled it well.

SCM - Took me a minute to understand the timelapse. Once I saw it...I liked it. The BG perspective is distracting. Some more color fade on the past spidermans would help. Maybe even show some translucency.

Gonna take some time to decide....

Yeah, both of these are quite cool, and it was tough to vote on because of similar styles.

Hyde, your Spidey is a bit of a let down, but the BG characters are very very cool. I enjoyed my visual romp through them. Perhaps make Spidey a bit punchier next time.

Sean, I dig your Doc Oc, and the clock, but the time lapse Spidey didn't really grab me. I know what you were trying to do, but it was tou to pull off.

Yeah, the time lapse really requires a fluid and clear sense of motion to be successful. I also think it helps to fade the colors on the various steps to help push the effect more. It took me a minute to realize that was the desired effect. And I was really confused about it until I had an "oh, ok" moment.

I voted for Hyde. All in all you pulled off the composition well. It's a bit choppy, but not bad at all. Aside from Spidey himself (already been mentioned), it really bugs me that his hand is going right into Sandman's eye!
Marooney I like your idea, and I think it works pretty well excpet for Spidey #4 - the abrupt change of direction and details (when did he tie the cannister around his shoulder?) breaks the whole second-to-second flow. That, and the background makes it look like the clock tower is tipping over!

Ha! All I could think when I saw SC's piece was Pop's previous remarks about drawing the same figure more than once in the same image and then I pictured him seeing his and just freaking out. Of course, I then realized the whole time lapse bit (and yeah, he actually did fade the colors on some of the Spideys but its not noticeable at first).

I dig what Hyde was attempting but I like SC's Spidey more (even if he's a bit on the heavy side for Spidey). Nice job to you both.

@hydekomiksink: Great job on your Spidey illustration, I like the montage you came up with! Thanks for taking up my challenge on this streetfight!

@Inkdrop, Ed & Dave: Thanks for the feedback, guys! Since you all had the same reaction about my time-lapse style image I knew that I didn't do a great job there. I was looking to push my boundaries on this illustration vis-a-vis composition and how many things I could do in a single image without making it too chaotic and completely unintelligible. I know that philosophy sometimes works to the detriment of how well a piece comes out, though . In my first-pass at this idea I actually drew all the intermediate positions between the four I had in this picture, but that really wasn't working out and was driving me a bit nuts trying to draw 12 Spideys on one page !

@trampis, E-nick & ChrisMcJ: Thanks for the comments, guys! I appreciate all the feedback and agree with the crits you've given me! I should have faded the colors on Spidey even more. I went something like 10-15% between the one in the foreground and the two in the middle space and then the one in the background. Should have pushed that even more to make it read correctly.

One thing I have really come to love about PUMMEL, win or lose, is seeing the comments about an illustration I've just completed. Many of the comments and crits almost immediately make me see where I could have improved something or what I can do to make something work better in the future. Keeps me coming back for more !

Thanks man. I really appreciated the chance to go up against the big-boys. And I'm glad it got things moving for your monthly challenge. I'm really diggin' you entry. I love the clocktower and the Spidie stages #1 and #3 are my faves. Thanks for all the nice comments all. I always appreciate all the advice I get - it really is appreciated and helps me move forward. I look forward to pushing myself further with each piece. Thanks
