Stupid computer!!! trying to comment on the third time...soo angry...ahaha

Anyways, great job from both of you guys!
scmarooney: I really like the action and the details on the characters as well as on the background, however the back ground looks too flat for me and i don't like the outline effect to make characters "pop" from the picture.

Juggertha: I like the action scene and the angle, as well as the multiple characters, despite that Conan's arms and shoulders look small and awkward, and i really find it hard to see him as Conan.

    Vote goes to scm.

Seans has bad eyeflow and composition, but his background is fantastic, (yeah, a little flat though) and has a manly cimmerian in some badass bloody action.

Jugs is a cool idea, but his conan's action is kind of dull and looks more like an underwear model than a scarred warrior born on a battlefield,

Went with Seans, but i respectfully submit being kinda let down by both of them, theyre better than i can presently do, but not what ive come to expect from you guys.

This was hard...both have small issues that jump out at me... stuff like Marooneys unnatural fold in the girls skirt and the awkward way the giants holding his hammer. And Juggs Conan is at an extremely boring angle...if you would've had Conan at least bending forward, that would have given him a sense of energy and movement....as it is, I can see him standing there saying.."Can you diiiiiig it!!!!!" to the guys below him.
Had to go with Juggs..because, while I almost slept thru the thing, it was, all in all, a better pic in my eyes.

This is a tough one. I genuinely like both pieces and the amount of details both artists put in them. Pretty strange voting on a topic that I just participated in just a few days ago. SCM's Conan reminds me of the Buscema version while Juggys reminds me of Windsor-Smith's slimmed down original version.

Tough decision but when in doubt I will always vote for the titties.

Voted Marooney, and will agree that I have come to expect much better from both of them. I guess they're saving it up for their respective ranked matches.

I'd like to one day see Juggs really do "just lines," as was initially promised in the challenge thread.

Gotta go with Juggertha. Scmarooney has confused Conan with the Incredible Hulk. Conan was one lean dude. In Howard's only physical description, Conan was well over 6 feet tall and weighed 200 pounds. 6'2", 6'3" is barely over 6 feet. Well over 6 feet is 6'4", 6'5", 6'6". At 6'5", 200 lbs is almost skinny.

    Here's Chuck Connors (aka the Rifleman) @ 6'5" / 200 lbs

Is that too thin? Maybe, but consider this: Chuck is one of a handful of men to play both professional baseball and professional basketball. He was a serious and fit athlete who's physique is far more natural than gym rats like Schwarzenegger or Ferrigno. The more human you keep Conan, the more fantastic the monsters will seem in comparison and the badder Conan becomes. Make Conan weigh 450 lbs, now he's just a big bully.

Although I agree with Smitty that making him a Hulk like figure makes his foes seem much less imposing... I've never in my life seen him portrayed in Comics or anywhere else as having a skinny NBA player's body type. IMO, that would be too far in the opposite extreme. I know the original description of the character might have been something along those lines, but the iconic character that everyone knows doesn't fit that at all.

I consider Buscema's Conan with Alcala inking to be the definitive Conan.

Nice job on your drawing Ed! Thanks for agreeing to the extra time on this one, as 24 hours was just too short a turn-around unless it's for the sketch group !

@Fallen: Thanks for the feedback! I definitely need to work on my backgrounds and trying to make them as interesting as the foreground elements!
@P.R.: Thanks for the crits on my drawing! I'm going to work on my Composition (among other things). This one sort of started as a sketch that I kept going with until it was, more or less, a finished drawing. Maybe not the best way to do things !
@Dann: Yeah, I had a problem figuring out that Hammer swing, re-drew it a half dozen times until the paper started getting wonky in that area . Thanks for the comments!
    @NYPicasso: Thanks!
@Pop: One of these days I'm going to impress you with something I draw! I'll keep workin' on it ! Thanks for being there to deflate my swollen cranium!
@Smitty: I was using the Schwarzennegger or Momoa version as more of a mental-model for my version of Conan. Even the Amazing Frank Frazetta had a ripped, muscular, large Conan in his iconic paintings. When R.E. Howard wrote those books back in the early 30's, a 200 pound guy at 6 foot tall is a pretty imposing figure. Not so much today, when I guy that size can't even play College Football as a starter ! Appreciate the feedback, though.
@Dave: Agree 100% about the Buscema/Alcala pairing, but those Joe Jusko covers on Savage Sword were like icing on a very tasty cake !
