Marco (mdavidct) can really hold his head high though, because he also did a fine job on his pages also. mdavidctis clearly an artist to watch out for here on PencilJack. Within less than 160 posts, he's shown us some amazing art work, and it's easy to see that his growing drawing skills are going continue to increase as time goes on. Your drawing is strong, Marco, and you're obviously very creative. That said, please accept a small bit of critical feedback:
I think your pages would improve dramatically though if you would have used traditional white gutters around the panels instead of those black, jagged gutters you went with. The white gutters work better visually, and allow the panels to separate from each other. This helps to eliminate unwanted visual chaos on the page, and add a little extra white also provides some much needed negative space that helps the eyes relax between images. Believe it or not, that's very important. Without the white gutters, it can be a bit of strain on the eye to view multi-panel action pages, which can become a visual jumble, that's difficult to read. Presentation is everything and clarity is absolutely key where sequentials are concerned, and little things like the gutters matter.
You have to do a little more with backgrounds too. Establishing the location is important, so don't skimp on the details. Good backgrounds help clarify where the characters are in the story, so they're important.
Your drawing is good though, Marco, and you did a very nice job portraying both characters. You really captured the vibe of Morgan's character, and that's the kind of effort and dedication that pays off eventually. You're a true competitor and no slacker!
Morg's veteran art skills win the day ,but I felt like I had to show some love and respect your way, Marco. I hope you won't mind too much that I provided you with some feedback too. I'm expecting big things from you, man!
Morg, you're really raising the bar high in this competition. Thanks for the treat!
