commissions $ ?

i see a lot of PJers rockin' the big bucks with commissions and daddy wants a piece of the action so here's what i'm wondering: how do you guys work the payment situation? do you get the money upfront then deliver the work? half up front rest on delivery or does the client pay you upon reciept of said masterpiece? do you bother with contracts or is it all handshakes? any input and/or advice is greatly appreciated.

I use paypal mainly, because it's the most convenient way to pay, especially online. I ask for full payment up front and work on the commission until it's complete. You can also sell commissions on ebay, but it costs money too.

I do it off of EBAY...there are a lot of fees though so that sucks about it...but a lot of people see the commissions from there...a few become repeat buyers and mostly don't go through Ebay for those...also some people just contact me though my email...
payment a lot of people pay instantly from EBay but from time to time they wish to wait...I've not had any problems with people not paying..if someone didn't pay I'd just sell the finished art on EBay anyways...likely get a little less for it but no biggie...but requiring payment after showing them a rough may be a good way around those who want to wait to pay...
half of my Pummel Matches have just been commissions...so here's hoping someone wants something Batman Inc before the end of the month..just kidding..good luck yo...
