Thread: comics you would never buy...

  1. #1

Sick comics you would never buy...

ok so theme here is what is the one(or two...i might add another ) comic that you don't even think twice about. definitely wouldn't buy it and wouldn't read it if given to you free-what character/concept is so awful that you don't even think about buying the book.

for me number one most despised/uninteresting/barf inducing comic is booster gold...i have zero interest in this comic-hate the concept/his lame costume(goggles suck ) ...pretty much everything about it blows.

Superman. I find him to be the least interesting character ever thought up. I'll read it if it's a crossover like the Crisis books, or if he appears in a Batman book, etc... But Superman himself... bleh.

The current 616 Spider-Man comics. Ever since OMD/BND, I just couldn't stand the characters and how things were retconned and set up. Somehow Marvel made me completely lose interest and not give a shit about the comic. If I want my dose of Spidey, I'll stick with the Ultimate version from now on.

@zippy yeah i never have been a superman fan myself(the character is dullsville-tight shorted do-gooder)-however i do like his crew(big props to lois lane and jimmy olsen :w00t) and of course he does have a good rogue's gallery(lex ftw).

@optic you know not having followed spidey that much ^^;-im at a loss on that one...i just dont pick up the books enough to know-but i liked grim hunt(and spidey books generally have killer artists :horns)

WonderWoman - I have almost no interest in her. Sure, she's a chick, so there's a certain amount of interest, but as a story/image, she doesn't make much sense to me.

This is me. I have ZERO interest in Spider-Man ever since OMD/BND. I was pretty much done with the comic after JMS gave us Sins Past, but One More Day put the fork in it for me.
Money can't buy you happiness, but it will pay for the search.

@mjames man i love gi joe comics(well not the larry hama versions-albeit those are written mainly for kids) but chuck dixon and co. are doing stellar work on gi origins/gi vs cobra etc...great visual appeal with the joes as well-go joe! star wars books have their charms-again for me great visual chars.

@jugger yeah as much as i like wonder woman visually the book is just a non starter for me as well-i mean limited rogue's gallery and the redesign is not working.

I approve of this thread. It's managed to stay pretty bash free so far. It's interesting for me to see what kind of opinions and tastes in reading material other people have.

I agree on the toy-based stuff also. I've browsed through some of the Transformers books, but couldn't really see myself buying them, but I did like the art in most of them. Haven't looked at GI Joe yet.
