We still need someone to write the script.

Hey Ugga, I've been around since last summer, and I hate to publicize my stupidity, but what is Fusion Jam? Is it the same as the Strip Jam (one person signs up for a panel) or is it by page?

I publicize my stupidity all the time.

I should have laid it out in the first post.

We do a 6-8 page script.

We assign a different penciller, inker and colorist for each page, and one lettermonger. We complete the comic on a schedule. three months from completed script to drop dead. Theoretically we move on to the next.

Hi, I haven't done much script writing, but I'll give it a try. If you want to, you can use the following. Feel free to fix any spelling/grammar problems. Rearranging panels is OK too as long as it doesn't affect the previous or next page. It could probably use a better title too.

Sorry it is such a depressing script. Rorschach can't do anything fun. If anyone else wants to try it out for practice, or portfolio, etc. outside of the Jam, that is cool by me too.

    Rorschach vs. Wolverine

    By: Segludian
    Date: January 15, 2011
    For: Fusion Jam

    BACKGROUND:
For this story, I've taken the liberty of changing the ending of Watchmen slightly to make it work. We will pretend that the giant squid monster wasn't fully teleported. Instead, due to an inter dimensional kickback, part of it was left behind in a pocket universe, along with a large chunk of downtown New York where the creature landed. Also, when Dr. Manhattan zapped Rorschach, he didn't disintegrate him. Instead he sent him here where he couldn't mess things up. Like many pocket universe settings, this one should have a psychedelic outer space background. There should be floating rocks, interstellar debris, and maybe some alien bugs that found their way there to feast on the decay.

    PAGE 01 (5 panels)
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Panel 1 (long shot)

Rorschach is standing on a floating rock looking down upon the city. He is writing in his journal (caption will the journal entry). Below him, the remains of New York's dead and buildings can be seen. The buildings are incomplete and in disrepair. There should be holes and broken windows. Only bits and pieces of each were kicked back into the pocket dimension. So the buildings should be unstable and delicate. Many should have fallen over, collapsed, or crumbled. We should not see the squid monster for the next few pages. However there may be a suspicious lump of debris.

    CAPTION:
    Rorschach's Journal November 10, 1985

CAPTION (Different font – handwritting style perhaps):
Decay surrounds me. The stench of the dead fills the air as they rot in the streets. Still it is better than the world I left behind.

    Panel 2
A flash of bright light fills the scene. This panel is a close up of the area that Rorschach was looking down upon. Wolverine should be seen in silhouette, he should be posed so that the transportation appears painful. Some lightning surrounding him or a Kirby crackle would be nice.

    SFX:
    Krak-A-Pow

Panel 3 (Medium shot or close-up)
Wolverine is holding his head as though in pain. His nose should be crinkled as if smelling the air.

    WOLVERINE:
    What happened, where am I?

    SFX:
    Sniff Sniff

    Panel 4: (Medium shot)
Wolverine looks around. He should be able to see Rorschach in silhouette in the distance, and is looking at him with distrust.

    WOLVERINE:
Did Nightcrawler pull some sort of prank on....

No, this is outta his league.

Panel 5: (Medium to long shot)

Rorschach is basically in the same spot as before, but kneeling down to get a better look at the new arrival. Wolverine can be seen as a small shadow down below in the decaying urban leftovers.

CAPTION (same font as the journal)
Something unexpected, a new arrival. Is it awake again?

    PAGE 02 (5 panels)
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Panel 1 (Medium to long shot)
The scene should be almost exactly the same as Page 01, Panel 5. Rorschach is kneeling down on a floating rock looking at the decaying city below. A few moments ago Wolverine was standing below, but now he has vanished.

    CAPTION (Journal font)
It is gone again, has a lack of food...

Panel 2 (Close-up or Medium shot)
Wolverine is behind Rorschach, one arm is around his neck ready to strangle him, the other has claws extended ready to cut him through the jugular vein.

    WOLVERINE:
    Did you bring me here?

    SFX:
    Snikt!

    Panel 3:
Similar shot to the last one, but more focuses on Rorschach and his unflinching nonchalant response. Wolverine looks tense.

    RORSCHACH:
    . . . No.

    Panel 4 (Medium shot):
Wolverine has released Rorschach, tossing him to the ground. He reels back in anger, his claws extended in rage

    WOLVERINE:

    AAAARRRGH!

Why? Why, do these things always happen to me!

    Panel 5: (Close-up)
Close-up of Rorschach pulling a concealed knife from a band in his sock.

    PAGE 03 (4 panels)
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Panel 1 (Medium shot):

Rorschach has thrown the knife and stabbed Wolverine in the stomach. Wolverine is in shock and pain.

    SFX:
    Thunk!

    RORSCHACH:
I don't take threats well. I make sure I'm never threatened again.

    Panel 2 (Medium shot):
Wolverine pulls out the knife, a thread of blood should show the knifes arc. Wolverine is in terrible pain and screams in agony. Rorschach is walking away calmly.

    WOLVERINE:
    AAAARRRGH!

    Panel 3 (Close-up):
Closeup of Wolverine's angry face. He is looking berserk.

    WOLVERINE:
Bub, when you stab a guy, make sure he's dead.

    Panel 4 (Long/Medium shot)
Wolverine has charged at Rorschach. He is in the middle of grabbing him by the collar throwing him backward and pinning him to the ground.

    PAGE 04 (5 panels)
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Panel 1 (Medium shot)
Wolverine has pinned Rorschach to the ground. The panel should be a worms-eye view with Rorschach on the ground looking up at Wolverine.

    WOLVERINE:
Give me one good reason not to kill you right now.

    Panel 2 (Close-up)
Close-up of Rorschach's face (remember to keep the face pattern changing). Wolverine's claws can be seen pointing at him from off-panel. Rorschach is still more calm than he should be.

    RORSCHACH:
    Do it. Kill me!

    Panel 3 (Medium shot)
Rorschach is still on the ground. Wolverine has released him and is walking away.

    WOLVERINE:
    You ain't worth it 'bub.

Panel 4 (Close-up or medium shot)
Rorschach is getting up off the ground, perhaps dusting off his pants.

    RORSCHACH:
Mercy.....that was and unexpected surprise. Perhaps you aren't the filth I assumed.

    Panel 5 (Medium shot)
Rorschach is now up, Wolverine has turned around to look at him. Anger and range are now surprise.

    RORSCHACH:
I think I know what brought you here. I can take you to it, but it won't get you back home.

    WOLVERINE:
    It?

    PAGE 05 (4 panels)
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Panel 1 (Long shot)
Wolverine and Rorschach are off the floating rock and are entering the wreckage of New York. We may see a large mound of wreckage ahead concealing the creature

    RORSCHACH:
A lie. A sin. An abomination It was supposed to bring world peace, a common foe for everyone in the world to fear and rally against. World peace through deceit.

    Panel 2
Wolverine looking at Rorschach, giving advice.

    WOLVERINE:
It won't work . . . at least not very long. Where I come from my kind would fit that description. No world peace there.

Is there anything that doesn't smell horrible in this place?

    Panel 3
Now we are looking at Rorschach, he is continuing his speech.

    RORSCHACH:
What's left of it still has massive psychic powers. It must have brought you here. To . . . I can't get close enough.

    Panel 4 (Medium shot)
Tentacles have risen out of the wreckage, and grabbed Wolverine and Rorschach around the waist. They are being pulled into the air.

    RORSCHACH:
I thought we were getting close.

    WOLVERINE:
    ?!

    PAGE 06 (4 panels)
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Panel 1 (Medium Shot)
This is the big reveal make it take up as much of the page as possible without hurting the other panels. We see the squid monster from the end of Watchmen at last. It has burst out of the wreckage it was hiding under. It looks somewhat like a zombie version of the one from the book since it is incomplete. There should be missing pieces and a chunk of skeleton with exposed brains (yes squids don't have skeletons, but at that size is must have one, a pretty big brain to be psychic with too). One eye ought to be missing too. It has Wolverine and Rorschach in its clutches. Wolverine is about to lop off a tentacle to free himself. Rorschach seems resigned to his fate as squid food.

    ZOMBIE GIANT SQUID MONSTER:
    QWARRR. OORRAGH!

    Panel 2 (Medium shot)
Wolverine has lopped off a tentacle and is leaping from it to free Rorschach.

    Panel 3 (Medium shot)
Wolverine has just chopped off the tentacle holding Rorschach. It is falling slightly. Wolverine has slung Rorschach over his shoulder.

    WOLVERINE:
    It's trying to kill us!

    Panel 4
The zombie giant squid monster is in pain in the background. Wolverine and Rorschach have retreated a (slightly) safe distance away.

    RORSCHACH:
It isn't trying to kill us, it is writhing in agony. It wants to be put out of its misery.

    PAGE 07 (5 panels)
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Panel 1 (Medium shot/Close-up)
Wolverine has a distasteful look on his face. Both heroes should be visible as at least talking heads.

    WOLVERINE:
You're right. Nothing should have to suffer like that.

    RORSCHACH:
Of course once its dead you have no hope of returning home.

    Panel 2 (Medium shot)
Wolverine pulls a revolver from a dead police officer laying on the ground and hands it to Rorschach.

    WOLVERINE:
You distract it. I'll sneak up on it.

    RORSCHACH:
Not that there was ever a chance anyway.

    Panel 3
We should be able to see the Monster, it is closing in on Rorschach. Rorschach is holding the gun in the air and shooting to catch the monster's attention.

    RORSCHACH:
You want me!? Come and get me!

    SFX
    BANG! BANG!

    Panel 4
Wolverine is cutting his way through tentacles around the back side of the creature, it looks surprised.

    Panel 5
Wolverine is on the monsters head at the joint between the skull and tentacles. He has his arm pulled back ready to strike.

    WOLVERINE:
    Sorry...

    PAGE 08 (7 panels)
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm thinking of a 3x3 grid with the first panel taking the top three spaces and the other panels filling up the rest.

    Panel 1
Make this one a pretty big one. Wolverine has just sliced and diced the monsters brain. Monster blood and guts are spilling out and filling the streets. Rorschach drops the gun and looks on from the foreground.

    ZOMBIE GIANT SQUID MONSTER:
    Wwrraagh...

    Panel 2
Wolverine and Rorschach are standing in the foreground looking at the mess.

    WOLVERINE:
    That was horrible. Poor thing.

    Panel 3
Another person teleports in. This time not in pain. The silhouette is Nightcrawler's.

    SFX:
    Bamphf!

    Panel 4 (Medium shot)
Nightcrawler has appeared. He has a harness around him tied to a rope leading to an open portal. We do not see Rorschach or Wolverine in the foreground just yet.

    NIGHTCRAWLER:
Wolverine! There you are, we've been looking for you all over. Had to get the Fantastic Four's help just to get here. Lets go before the portal closes.

    Panel 5 (Medium shot)
Wolverine is headed toward the portal, Nightcrawler is ushering him in. Wolverine is looking back in surprise.

    WOLVERINE:
    Got room for one more?

    NIGHTCRAWLER:
There's nobody else here! We have to go!

    WOLVERINE:
    Where did he go?

    Panel 6 (Medium shot)
Rorschach steps out from the side of a decaying building and stares at the closing portal.

    CAPTION (Journal font):
Leave one world of death and disease for another. I just can't do it.

    SFX:
    Bamphf!

CAPTION (at the bottom of the frame and page)
    The End.

    okay, read it. Fun script.

I am going to give two days for comments and feedback, and then, if none, we will greenlight the script and move forward.

Just a reminder to AJKarp and Popninja, of the January 18 drop dead date for the turnarounds. Please note that any missed deadlines will result in re-assignment without further notification. Thanks.

These seemed a bit mundane, so I added the ink blots. They can be mixed and matched, Free transformed, referenced, or what have you.
