SDCC 2010 Reactions

Apologies if this posted twice, my internet connection totally sucks right now. Anyway, with Comic-Con starting, I figured we should have a place to discuss, celebrate, and bash all the news coming out.

Some guesses on news that we'll hear:

1. There will be a female Green Lantern title, written by Gail Simone.
2. The first Marvel short will appear on Captain America.
3. Aquaman will get a new monthly of some kind (Mera perhaps?)
4. Marvel will add sixteen new Deadpool titles "because the fans demanded it."
5. Panel-wise, Fraction will curse and DiDio will be mad hungover.
6. Swamp Thing will come back in some capacity.
7. Captain America: White will finally ship
8. IDW will launch a Dick Tracy monthly

I will no longer attend the SDCC, but I watched them covering Thursday on E! and it looks insane. The celebrities there just on Day One were unbelievable. It's no longer a "comic" convention by any stretch of the imagination. Angelina Jolie is supposed to be there today, I think. Once you've crossed that threshold of pure SPECTACLE, all bets are off. SDCC is officially off my list of cons to attend.

Just to clarify, I'm not a huge crowds type of person. When I used to go to the SDCC, it was always packed, but it was packed with people who loved comic books. Last time I went, it was packed with celebrity-seekers, grandmas, and just overall people that wouldn't have been there 10 years prior. Not my type of scene any longer, but I'll always have my memories.

I'm going to make the crazy assumption that Angelina Jolie is only there to promote her movie; if she had nothing to plug, but just went to the con out of interest, that'd be pretty cool.

I get the impression that a lot of stars see the SDCC as the celebrity version of jury duty.

I think there are a lot of people attending, who really don't want to be there.

Avatar the Legend of Korra. Young Justice. Those two shows alone made my year. I've known about them but we finally got some real info.

Posting live from Comic Con. I'm enjoying.

Went to exhibit hall on preview night and have been attending the panels. Very informative for the most part and enjoyable

i think its pretty awesome that the whole panel of Scott Pilgrim showed the full length movie to all those who were in attendence of the panel.... thats a pleasant surprise!
