    Elf Warrior Maiden sketch

Rough sketch of my own Elf Warrior Maiden character from a story I hope to finish some day.

i don't know exactly what direction you want to go stylewise, but looking at her pose and anatome i think fixing a few issues could make it look more natural.

her waist doesn't look realistic that way without drawing her a very tight corset. and i don't understand, why the shoulder of the lower arm is higher. if you raise your hand, your shoulder goes up.

i made a quick overpaint to demontrate what i mean (i'm not good with words) -hope you don't mind.

Wow, that's incredibly helpful. Thanks for taking the time to do that, it's much appreciated.

that overdrawing really helps, u can take that pose and just bulk her up in the right places if u want to
just study some real people, life drawing and it'll come to u, we artists are always learning

that's a great drawover that Arne S did...
but the original pose... and proportions... thus style of the entire piece is different.

I actually don't see anything absolutely wrong with your original approach; save for the left arm.

realistically... the elbow is about level with the rib cage
and the wrist is about level with the crotch

    you've given her a longer torso... so everything else has to be compensated as well;
at least according to my philosophy of illustration.

i mostly stuck to the muscle proportions you already had.

also... her pants look like she had an accident
to many creases in that one area; coupled with NO creases anywhere else.

I think the correct combo is in-between Whune and Arne's. Whune's has the muscle, Arne's has a more natural vibe.

    I agree...

I'm just saying... in keeping with his original vision... it's doable.

Arne's actually looks better in my opinion... but it's an entirely different physique and pose.

    To force an analogy...
That's like taking your economy car in for repairs... and dealer saying "what you need is a porche"
