Looking for a (professional-quality) sequential artist...

Let me cut to the chase.

I was putting together a comic property after getting out of the Army - the bulk of the work that was done on that project was deleted/destroyed by my ex-wife during a vicious separation process. That was three years of work (not just my own) and a few thousand dollars flushed down the toilet.

    You live, you learn.

I'm not in a position where I can spend more money on a project.

    That's just how it is.

But, I've got another project ready to go for any up-and-coming illustrators not currently gainfully employed in the field (or having a hard time getting a foot in the door in the first place) who are interested in being attached to the project.

Now, though I haven't worked in the industry since 2000, I do have quite a history in the field.

I have worked for Marvel Comics, Image Comics, London Night Studios, Chaos Comics, Sirius Publishing, Lightning Comics, High Impact Studios, and others. I have worked as a writer, penciller, inker, colorist, and art director.

So, I'm not exactly without knowledge of the field and the process behind production of a comic title.

This is what I can offer: a great story, quality dialogue, industry provenance, and personal perspective.

What I cannot offer is the promise of actually taking the book to press myself. As I said, I simply do not have the funds anymore to take it that far.

The goal here is to produce a single issue and pitch the book for solicitation at an already-established publishing house (IE: Image, Dark Horse, Avatar, et alia).

Again, though I haven't worked professionally in about 10 years, I am, nevertheless, a professional. I am looking for other professional-caliber people to work with me on this project. As such, please be self-aware and honest with yourself about your level of work.

I am currently seeking a penciller, inker, and colorist for inclusion in this process. As this site is a well-spring of talented individuals, I figure I've got a better-than-average shot at finding what I need.

All interested, please send me an email with your particulars and a link to your work (or attach jpegs large enough to be easily seen - please be aware that, the larger the files, the more opportunity for them to be rejected by the mail server).

Those who are interested and whose work is accepted will receive no page rate - living on a Veteran's disability pension does not leave me any room, sadly, to make such an offer. This leaves me with two options if the book gets picked-up: either not pay the artist at all, or offer the dreaded "percentage deal"...oooo! So, that's what I can do. The difference is, with this offer, I doubt you'll find a better one.

The percentage available to the artist is 30% NET.

Why so high? You'd be taking a chance on me and the book, so I'll take a chance on you.

I figure, if the book does well enough to afford me the opportunity to produce more of my series, the cost was well enough worth it.

    Lastly...

Though I plan on inking the book myself, if I happen to find a competent inker willing to work for 10% NET, I'll consider doing that as well.

    Colorist: 10% NET

That's it - if you're interested, drop me a line at my email address: 1slickcollector@gmail.com

Hope to hear from prospective collaborators soon.

I understand that this thread started in the wrong place (shame on you, Slickaway for not finding the right area), but its now in the Bulletin board, so I removed all posts not having to do with inquiring about the offer. Not saying that the points from both sides have no merit or anything, but the very nature of the Bulletin Board is for solicitation, not debate.

Slickaway is looking for some collaborators. His proposed deal is listed in his post. If you like what he's got to offer, follow his instructions and send him an email. Heck, got questions or want to negotiate? Send him an email or post 'em here. I'm sure he'd be happy to clarify things for you.

If you DON'T like or agree with what he's offering, move on, or conduct yourself via PM's. Arguing in the Bulletin Board about a solicitation will just beg for me to step in with my pruning shears. I do try to keep them sharp.
