Thread: AMC' s walking dead

    Television AMC' s walking dead

I'm pretty sure we've already had a thread on this (partially because I remember starting one). But ever since we gotten the new forum I can't find a lot of posts with the search function. If anyone knows how to dig up a previous thread on this then maybe it's possible to merge.

Anyway, they cast the guy who' ll play Rick a couple of days ago; http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/...998d9c8d00a6b5

I only know the guy from the movie Love, Actually and this british show callled Teachers. Not really roles that make me think of the right guy for this, but I like the actor good enough.

I' m really curious how this' ll turn out. Still strange to think this is actually happening.

With Frank Darabont doing it and it being on AMC I'm really looking forward to what they can do with it. It's easily my favorite comic and I can't wait for the first episode. I'm glad they've got actors that are not huge stars. I think that makes it much easier to get into a story. The only thing that sucks is AMC only ordered 6 episodes to start.

Now, it only HBO would do Preacher.

I thought that dude was pretty good in Love Actually, so I've got no beef with him playing Rick.

Not sure about his American accent, though. But I'm sure it's solid.

I'm normally very cynical about casting and such things -- but Andrew Lincoln is awesome.

I'm not sure how good his American accent will be - or how well suited he is to play Rick (i'm not an expert on the title) - but he brings a 'nervous energy' and 'everyman quality' to everthing he does. Teachers is one of my all time TV highlights - and he was perfect in that role.

So, if he gets the accent right - he's a damn good catch.

Is this the same AMC that does Breaking Bad? Is that a decent show?
I see it advertised all the time, and we happen to have AMC on our needlessly expansive cable package.
Just trying to get a sense of the quality of an AMC production.

Off Topic: Teachers is worth tracking down in some form then Beastie? I think I've heard it mentioned on Ricky Gervais' XFM show because his girlfriend had something to do with it.
Is it The Office type faux-documentary or more of a traditional british sit-com?

Yeah AMC does Breaking Bad which is fantastic and they also do Mad Men which I often hear great things about. The Walking Dead definitely seems to be in good company then and everything seems to be shaping up very well. I can't wait till the show starts.

It's a kind of adult comedy that follows the lives of a group of sub-standard young teachers at a crappy school. They basically go into school every day, do their jobs (badly), take the piss out of each other, try not to get involved in anything work-related and then head to the pub every single night to get as drunk as they can. The first 2 series are great, the 3rd is ok - and the 4th is not quite so good (but still very watchable).

It's just a normal 'sitcom' though - not an office style docu-comedy.

    First look at the zombies
the fifth an sixth zombie look like zombified versions of Kevin Bacon and Jim Carrey or something.

I really hope this is will be good and succesfull. With Lost gone this looks to be the only show that could take over the torch as the best genre show on television.
