Hey guys, in the Writers section, someone started a thread on this topic.
I'd be curious to know what other artists/inkers/etc. think about the original poster's proposal.

Depends on the artist and the situation.
There is such a big difference in working with an artist that you already know that can collaborate with you and in trying to get an artist that you don't know to work on your project.
In any case, professional artists deserve to be paid. If this is their day job - or they are trying to make it their day job - then others should respect that.
At the same time, there are a lot of poor writers out there looking for a break.
i would think it varied on how much work is done by both parties
It's a tough situation- you need jobs to get experience, experience to get jobs and theoretically that should lead to an artist being paid their worth.
However, regardless of money involved, an artist will putting a lot of their time into a project, so they should think long and hard before committing to it.
