    Andrew W.K.'s Gundam Rock

So, I've never seen a single second of any Gundam series. I'm not huge on anime--I've seen several of the basics (Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Ninja Scroll, Vampire Hunter D, etc.), but overall just am not hardcore into it.

I am, however, hardcore into Andrew W.K.

And his CD of covers from Gundam 0079 is sooooo infectious. Listening to this repeatedly makes me feel that Gundam 0079 will be the best thing I've ever watched in my entire life. So maybe some day I will try and check it out?

Check out the cover to Gundam Rock:

If I'm recalling correctly, Gundam 0079 is pretty old, and it shows (unless there's a new 0079, which with Gundam is entirely possible). I preferred 08th MS Team and War in the Pocket, but there's so many Gundam offshoots at this point that you have to take it pretty seriously to keep track.

If you can handle viewing the older animation (it's a bit crude sometimes,) it's one of the best animated series of all time. They remastered a lot of the anime scenes in the PS2 Journey to Jaburo game, which makes me sad they never did it with the anime, because it looked beyond beautiful.

If you're planning on watching it, watch 0079 and it's sequel Zeta Gundam as well, amazing series that is just as good as the original. 08th is pretty great, War in the Pocket, and Stardust Memory are also fantastic.

Gundam 0079 is old, but its cool. I still watch it. Do you watch 1950s films and cuss them because they're black and white, or do you accept the standards and still admit its a quality film?

As for the Gundam shows, My favourite was always Gundam Wing. The only series I've seen with multiple lead characters/Gundams. Its also in its own universe which is great.

Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket is amazing. Storywise better than the rest. But its a small 6-episode Mini-Series. I watch the whole thing like a film all the time.

I always thought 08th MS Team and 0083: Stardust Memory are over-rated.

I haven't seen any Gundam's post Turn-A, so can't comment on the essentially remakes that are Seed and 00

There's some totally different Gundam series too, like G-Gundam which are totally unrelated concepts but just using the robots.

Meanwhile, Andrew WK is awesome. He's one the most pleasant people I've ever met.
