The theme for April 2014's Pummel match was Zelda, so I chose the entry I have the fondest memories for: Link's Awakening. I was torn for a while about choosing a favourite scene, but after watching a documentary about Drew Struzan I went for the poster. I also tried out Loomis's informal composition approach.
I learned a lot about Photoshop this month, although I did waste a lot of time with the colouring, learning about a greyscale layer with a colour layer on top will likely prove
February's Pummel taught me a valuable lesson about how long it takes to produce a page and time management. I went from five to three to one planned pages! Below is the final product, which I inked with a brush, alongside some more preparation work.
I've learned plenty from Pummel and the Weekly Sketch Group already, most significant of which is that I draw too small. The finished page was only A4 in size, which made my life difficult given that I'm still new to brush inking. I also
