I'm changing the format of my webcomic Zyn Dweomer (http://www.zyndweomer.com) to standard comic book with the intent to print (no dangerous rhyme intended). I draw it digitally, but I wanted to convey some sense of age to the comic. What I really would like to go for is to make it look almost like a comic book you'd pick up in 1984 out of the quarter box. My primary inspiration for this is the classic Captain Carrot series from DC.
Anyway, I added some texture to this panel and I was curious how it works for people. This is just test one, I'll mess around and see what else I can come up with.
On this one I scanned an old ink rag and put it on a layer over the color and tuned down the opacity. Pretty simple.
I know another method might be to convert all the colors to halftones, but I don't know if I want to go that far or not.
