Notes:
Challenger Popninja will battle Jared Lee for the middleweight title. Both of these guys are veterans, show it should be an epic match.

Solace, Alexcat, and Deth are going to have to have a 3-way match. Sorry guys, that's just the way it goes.

Due to the staggering amount of no shows last month, a lot of people have soared through the ranks. I want to thank everyone who produced something this month. Let's shoot for a 100% show up rate this month. If you are having problems producing a picture, PLEASE contact me and/or your sparring partner.

No shows: PLEASE contact me if you want to be in the matches this month. The good news is that Wong, Shawny, and Bojangles are all pretty close in ranking, so if you guys do pop up, I can stick you in the rankings without changing the rankings above.

Please contact your partner at this time and set the topic of your match. Remember, if you don't like the topic, LET YOUR PARTNER KNOW. This is for fun guys. If you're not having fun, then you're not going to produce your best work. So communication is key.

Really, guys, Nick will not be an easy challenge for me. After all, he has a martial arts web comic and I'm sure he knows what he's doing when he choses Ken VS Ryu as our topic. I mean, he has already seen my jutsu when it comes to SF and he even helped with suggestions on that fight with Jared Lee.

I'm going to give it my best shot. After my current street fight, he will have my undivided attention. This will be a GREAT battle :D

Also, $10 on slam and $10 on popninja becoming a heavyweight with the wildcard stuff! :)

When is wildcard?

Alfred, make sure you use martial art pose references for the drawings. I would even suggest going to the local lifedrawing around your area (assuming you are 18+) and ask whoever the model is to do the pose you want (A kick or a hadouken). Then draw try to draw that pose from an interesting angle. I would advice drawing it from an extreme bottom up angle (Don't be scared to go up close to the model even if he/she is naked).

Yeah appart from the SF with Alfred I'm just going to focus on my match with spidey, and if I finish early I might go for a few Sf rounds to chill down. thats exactly what i plan on doing. this could be my most challenging match to date.

i meant to do more of these prediction type of deals for the last couple months but never got around to it. ill try to do this every month and see how right i am. Nor am i saying that my voes are predetermined...i will vote on whatever piece i like more come posting time.

As of right now there is some question about Deth's status as he has technically been a no show for the last two months of ranked matches. NOW ... after doing some more research ... I noticed that Doomsmith pulled out on him in July. However, Deth never posted a piece in the challenge thread.

Hanzou, I am going out of town for the weekend, but maybe Dave should make the final call on this one. I know I was the one to bring it up ... but like I said last night ... I was pretty punchy ...lol.

Actually it isn't Deth's call to make ... it is Dave's call slam ... here is the new rule I have been talking about

New added rules starting in August:

If you no show for a ranked match, you will drop 4 spots in rank. No show twice in a row and you will fall to the bottom of the division, and will have to complete a streetfight to show good faith.

I will send a PM to Dave ... just to get his attention on this one.

Yes it was. During the July ranked matches ... 6 lightweights no showed, and because of the way things fell only 3 out of 10 polls went up. This prompted Dave to make stiffer penalties for no showing during a ranked match. These new rules started with the August Ranked matches.

Well Dave may allow you to keep your higher rank because of Doomsmith's pullout in July, but a SF would be a nice gesture. Also, I am really sorry to hear that you are having problems, and I didn't mean to sound harsh at all. I do realize that good intentioned people will have deadline issues from time to time. If there are extreme circumstances that cause deadline issues just let us know.
Oh and that piece kicks tail.

In the future, when your opponent no shows, it's still required that you post a piece to show that you completed your end, so that you get the victory and aren't counted as a no show yourself. It's also important that if you think you might have a problem making the deadline, let your commissioner know so that you aren't included in the matches. There's less of a penalty if you do this.

I'll give you a free pass this time around, but it's going to be like a probation. If you don't post a piece this month you'll go to the bottom of the ranks.

I can understand and appreciate hard times or just plain lack of time, but the show must go on as they say.

I do think we'll see some guys moving up. Pop, you definitly would be home in heavyweights. I think Jared would have to be more consistent to really do well in heavyweights, but still if you guys move up we're rid of a lot of stiff competition ;) lol in a couple of months all the lightweights will be middleweight and middleweights will be heavyweights. Somebody should really design some weight championship belts that we could use as signature...and maybe a hall of fame somewhere :D

hey guys. i am looking at my september schedule and i'm realizing that i have exactly one day off for the entire month, counting work, school, teaching, and gigs. i'm also getting my resume and stuff together for applying for a doctoral program and i just got married.
this semester is going to seriously test my limits.

Lol Spidey, I didn't mean it like that. Jared is right, shrinking makes the lines look sharper and the truth is, Nickguy's drawings are about the gestures, not the details. So to show his strength and hide his weaknesses, he should shrink them.

speed lines used to take me forever....but now i can do them like nothing. that last double page splash probably took me MAYBE 10 minutes. Ive gotten so comfortable with them i just lay the ruler down at the vanishing point, and then just flick the pen while rotating.

This is what I did, Nick:

Made one image 1400 x 5370 (you can have yours be whatever)
Put the separate parts in it
Did File, Save for Web and played with the quality till it was less than 1MB in size. It ended up being like 40% but still looks ok.
Went to Photobucket and under the Upload button clicked on 'more options' and set it the Basic Dimensions to 1MB

Let me know if that works!

Running horribly behind. My manager got demoted, and the other lead for my department quit for a job closer to home, so life's been hectic. Throw in prepping for my business trip on the 22nd and a drawoff I foolishly accepted (prior to my co-lead quitting) and it's been a bit rough. :)

Just realized what was weirding me out about your sequence Alexcat. The treasure box starts out at a size that fits in the palm of her hand, and gradually grows to the size of a small pirate's chest. I'd say by the last shot it's about 4 times the size it starts off as. There's still plenty of time to fix it before I finally finish beating my head against mine.

I think in the monthly rank match its pretty strict to the deadline but I noticed some polls going up late so I figured if we got ours up with in 3 hours no one would think twice about it.
If there are extenuating circumstances involved , I think he will have to contact the head cheese , otherwise this would be a no show .
