MrBojangles has a great, moody piece. His linework is superbly clean and confident, which I'm actually a little jealous of. :o However, I was thrown off by the surface he's sitting on, which looks like he should slide off of it. It's very slanted for a flat surface that close to the horizon line (Wolvie's chin). Judging from the other buildings I think the vanishing points were just set really close together, which skews it visually. I know the anatomy is stylized, but I'm not feeling the forearms being thicker than the thighs either.
I like the visual story of Armstrong's piece a little more, with Logan stumbling through the woods. The anatomy is kinda wonky in spots (waist above and below the belt don't match up, the musculature on the left arm is way off) but it's pretty proportionate overall. It's not as refined, but the motion is clear and the image is cohesive as a whole.
Given how much I usually love MrBojangle's stuff, I surprised myself on this one and went with Armstrongarts.

I went with Armstrong because I love that Wolverine is stuck in a patch of foliage and he just starts freaking out trying to get out. I do like the simple lines of Bojangles' piece a lot. I also love beer so it was hard not to vote for that one. Good fight!

Both pieces are nice, kind of a tough one here. I like the clean look of Mrbojangles. love the face, but I don't think wolverine has those little claw thingys on the skin of his hands. Just being nit picky. Armstrong's got some nice detail going on, cool shading too, but there's something that just doesn't look right and his claws look like they're coming out from between his fingers. Again just being picky. Tough one, but I went with Armstrong.

I'm just a sucker for clean work. I can't help it, especially when it looks this good. Points off for not having claws popped, though. This was a "Wolverine" draw off, not a "Logan just chillin'" draw off.
ArmstrongArts is doing some really solid work. But with 'jangles presenting such clean, really great looking art, it's impossible to not vote for him.

Yeah, those openings are part of his gloves, they shouldn't show up in a bare hand image. I didn't even think about it when I saw it.

Movie Wolverine had them like that. Post movie people use then off and on like that.

Are you guys sure about that? Or should you do some research first?

Yeah, I always thought those were a part of his skeleton that popped through his skin when his claws were out. But I don't remember ever seeing them visible when his claws aren't out.

I think every artist handles it different. I would have to do a real search, as in through my collection, but I'm fairly sure I've seen Wolverine drawn with those little "claw guides" on his hands, without gloves, without claws popped.

I'm pretty sure they're not.

I'll try to dig up the issue where Banshee first discovers the claws are part of Wolverine's hands and not built into the costume, I don't believe he had them then either.

Edited for a clearer image from Weapon X.

Wolvie's claws for the first time in Alpha Flight. Still looking for the Uncanny shot.

you need to read weapon x again. he says 'the holes keep healing up, well need to do something about that" and they put the metal things to keep them open so it doesnt hurt and make him bleed everytime he pops the claws.

Yeah, like I said, I am 100% positive I can find a handful or more images with Logan having those things on his hands, without gloves, claws sheathed.

I guess he never had them on his hands. I'm looking at Uncanny X-Men Giant-Sized Annual number 11, and Alan Davis sort of drew them in on a couple of long shots, only with the claws extracted, but on the close ups with his claws extracted the metallic things are no where in sight. I checked some old Jim Lee X-Men and he would draw bumps on the hand, while the claws were extracted, but no the metallic things. Either way, it's regular hands when the claws aren't extracted, so my drawing is incorrect.
*edit* I just saw Popninja's post... sweet vindication... my subconscious remembered it from somewhere... I'd like to thank my mom for sticking by me through these troubled times...

I guess there's still no evidence of the metallic things while his claws are not extracted, so I retract my sweet vindication. This world is godless.

I threw my vote to Mr. B. It's just so clean and has a great style.
As for the things on his hands, I really dig the decision to pop out between his fingers from the X-Men movie, but the top of the hands was the classic that I grew up with. I don't ever remember seeing the things on top of his hands when he didn't have his gloves on (and his claws were retracted). However, I do remember reading that there were small silicone rings inside almost hidden slits on his hands that the claws slip through when he *snikts* them out, but I have no idea where I read that. The shape of his claws is also artistic preference. I remember seeing flat blades, round claws and tear-drop cross section claws.
But there's just something about the claws cutting through the skin and healing after he retracts them that just makes him much tougher.

For me the claws didnt feel right on either. ( non extracted metal sheaths on Mr B's or extracted on Armstrongs * seems to come from under the palm not the nuckles * )
Mr B's is a crisp clean drawing nice mood , but I prefer a more gritty Wolverine .
My Vote went to Armstrong

I did read Weapon X again. They suggest adding something to hold the skin open permanently, then Cornelius says "Add a note for that" or something to that effect immediately before Logan escapes. The addition that quote is referring to never happens in the book.
I will say however that it's been going both ways for years with the claws out, so it's mostly irrelevant. I apologize for derailing your Street Fight guys, there's some great art in this thread and I never meant to take the attention off of it.
