SO it had to happen. For the first time in months I DIDN'T vote for Hades ... and DAMN you jinxed yourself when you said you expected to get your BUTT kicked Alex. For me personally I am just not getting the vibe I usually get from your ladies ... which just sizzle.

Manji ... man when I get learn to get THAT level of sultry into my ladies ... I just migh quit drawing ... jokes. This is an amazing piece. I would say just strengthen up cyclops a bit and call it a day.

P.S. Manji ... so when are you taking on the role of middleweight or heavy weight commisioner for PUMMEL from Dave. I should nominate you eh ... since you threw me under the bus ... lol .... jokes. Honestly, I am glad to help out. I have NO idea how Dave keeps track of everything though. The lightweights are keeping me busy.

Yeah ... Alex is one hell of a machine and he is definetly growing leaps and bounds. Like I said in another thread he has become one of my favourite artists, anywhere, and that includes the current talent in the business.

As for you taking over the middleweights ... I know you would do a damn fine job. If need be I could try to lend a hand there as well ... especially in a pinch. I am luck that I have Armstrong helping me in the lightweights ... he has been a work horse.

I never draw people lying down and wanted to try it out, but I used a PUMMEL Street Fight as an excuse to do so. I knew as soon as I posted it that this piece wasn't up to competition standards - more of a refined sketch really. I'm a little dissappointed in myself for not taking the challenge more seriously and I apologize to Manji for not bringing it like I should have.

Regarding Manji's piece, I LOVE Emma, I hate Scott. You gave him a Cylon visor instead of his Cyclops visor - it's supposed to wrap around a bit. Right now he looks a little cross-eyed, and with only one eye! Still, great work man!

Because he is working hard on his sequentials for the huge FanExpo that is here in Toronto at the end of the month. It is a huge deal, and there will be portfolio reviews there from both editors and artists. Heck Joe Q will be there. At least I THINK that is the reason ... back me up hades ... lol

The piece was due by 3am the same day. I gave myself one hour to work on it, then I had to get back to other work. It got my creative juices flowing though! :)

I had lots more time to work on the Spidey piece - still, I only put in about four hours on that one (otherwise the buildings would have been cleaner). A really complete piece takes six to eight hours for me. A piece with fewer background elements takes three to four hours, sometimes less, depending on the overall design. The Bubblegum Crisis piece I'm working on now will easily be eight hours. So, yeah, I spent less time on this piece and it really shows, but I went into this competition knowing I was on a time limit. Meh. I'm really not happy with it. But, at the same time, I am happy that I got that pose down. I are a good learner.

Both pieces are really good , but had to go with Hades cause he didn't play it safe, drawing somebody laying down in that point of view is hard as hell, if you don't believe it , you try it even if you use reference.

digitally painted , some feel this equates to better rendered . ( have you not been noticing ? )
Personally I feel the level of rendering was near equal in this challenge , I am of the opposite end of the spectrum I say show me what you can do with a pencil , now mind you Ive seen some of manjis pencil work and hes quite capable there as well .

For me it came down to a battle between your skill in pencil stroke vs his skill in digital paint strokes . For me you won that battle , otherwise they are both fantastic bits of work .
