Gave it to Alfred thought Bovey had a little too much random stuff going on.

Dave. This is freaking great. Really, I can't help but to wonder what this would have looked like if you went with colors. I was also a little sad to not see the Doc Oc tentacles.
Thanks again for taking me up on this challenge. It has actually meant a lot to me. :)

You guys both brought it , great composition and shading on both pieces. Bovey's is a little tighter pencil work, Dave's perspective shot is very dynamic. Great battle , I'll vote tomorrow without the Corona Bias

wow, unbelievably close on this one. took me a while but i went with dfbovey due to his excellent shading. mesmerizing, both of you.
Both are super amazing pieces. Alfred sure bringing home the point that he belongs up there with the best, but even slight dfbovey's is even better. You both have dynamic compositions, but in bovey's piece excellent shading you get the cherry on the cake.

yeah ... this not an easy choice that is for sure.
Dave> your piece has a super slick finish ... and the figures are dynamic and exciting. Your rendering is some of my favorite here at PJ. I can almost FEEL your figures moving
Alfred> Awesome foreshortening ... a hell of a background ... dynamic figures with a sense of urgency. Your whole piece is exciting ... I would only have to say that there are just a few anatomy things ... and a bit with goblin's face ... but those are nitpicks. I have to say that with all of your hard work as of late you have proven ... at least to me and a few others I am sure ... that you BELONG in the heavyweights.

Hats off to Alfred for putting together a really dynamic piece with an awesome sense of drama!
You'll either be at the top of the middleweight division or into the heavyweights really soon I reckon.
Also kudos for stepping up and really putting your unbeaten record on the line for the sake of really challenging yourself. It was fun to watch you put your piece together, and your attitude during the process was pretty refreshing!
Positive rep for you.

Wow, I'm shocked at how close these ended up. You both brought the heat.
The action in both are great, but I had to give it to bovey for the cleanliness and professionalism.
Alfred's was great. It's just that all of the faces, especially spider-man's, were kind of off. Also, Spidey's shoulders and torso foreshortening are not correct either.
The only crit for bovey's is spidey's left foot. I just love the Venom in the foreground.
Both pieces are frigggin' epic! great job guys!

I really have to agree with this ... alfred REALLY does use PJ the way it was meant to be used. As a community of artists dedicated to helping others and themselves improve.
EXTRA positive rep for you

Haha, I'm totally getting murdered on the poll, which is pretty much what I expected. I really didn't like being 'unbeaten' so I guess it's good that I got losing out of the way lol. Now I know just how high the bar is and what I need to do to improve my work. I guess I am a little surprised that I even got any votes against such a great piece.
By the way, if any of you are interested to point out ANY mistake in my piece (especially anatomy) I will definitely listen and learn. Anything to help me improve is cool with me.
Thanks to all for the kind words. Your confidence in me is really touching. I'm going to try my hardest to impress you all. Please continue to be as harsh on me as you can with critiques and such. I will continue to bite off more than I can chew and see where that leads me ;)

I kinda hoped this would be a more even battle.
Great job, Alfred. Yours came out really good. Lots of stuff going on. Very ambitious work here. Background looks great. I almost think it would have been even better if you did what Dave did and stuck an element from another villain in the background without showing the actual villain. Like, you could have had a Doc Ock tentacle floating in the background.
Dave's is really very random looking, in terms of what's going on, but it's some great looking random. Spidey's about to get effed up is what it looks like. It looks very artful, like a ballet. I hear classical music when I look at it. Some parts of it could have used a little more definition, like the rubble. Came out great anyway.
This was not an easy vote.

alfreds anatomy is a bit extreme. I voted bovey. both great pieces though.
went with bovey on this one, but i thought it would be MUCH closer than this score is indicating!

HOLY ****! You guys are Awesome! Both pieces kick ass. A couple of anatomy type things with Alfred's piece made me go with DB's...

Wow , just amazing if i could vote for both of you i would, i have to say I voted for dave. If there was a technical vote, i would go for Dave but if there was a composition vote it would go to alfred.
I had to stop and just look at these two for a moment the quality in this matchup blew me away. Also alfred just because the votes look like a landside i know it was a very touph choice for me so it isnt really a landslide if you know what i mean?
