Some of these were around longer than others, but none were around long enough, in my book:

-Gotham Central
-Spider-Man's Tangled Web
-Ultimate Marvel Team-Up
-Bathroom Girls
-The Atomics
-X-Statix
-Damn, I'm sure there are more that ruled that I'm not thinking of.

Man, I loved X-Statix. I discovered it just as the last few issues were coming out, though, and a couple of the trades are out of print, so I never got to read those. Also, I moved a couple years back and shipped a few boxes of comics and CDs to my house, and one of the boxes got lost. It had all my X-Statix trades in it, as well as all my Y: The Last Man trades, some Sandman trades (one of them signed), Fables, and a bunch of other books. Sad times.

The entire Valiant Universe.

Quoted for truth. I loved almost every single book in the Valiant line. At one time I was collecting every single one of them. Great stories, great art.

I hate Acclaim ruined them. The Sidebar guys have a great interview with Bob Layton who drew half the books and was EIC at Valiant at one day. Great interview, the guy really tells it like it is and holds nothings back.

I miss Codename: Knockout, wish they kept more consistent with the artists though.

Also Firebreather, what happened to that series? Hope it'll get resurrected.

I was just browsing my old comics when I came across all my X-Force/X-Statix comics. Man I loved that series. It's a shame Peter Milligan never stayed on top after that.

Not really a series but I really miss the whole time of Bruce Jones' Return of the Monster run on the Hulk.

Both him and Peter Milligan were sadly kinda forgotten after that and it's a shame.

The only other series I miss are Sleepwalker and the Guardians of the Galaxy. (the old school ones, not this new series)

Generation X. By far the best "teen team" book I've ever read.

Irredeemable Ant Man was incredible.

Alias and Gotham Central.

Codename: Knockout was quite fun. I miss that book too.

I think there is currently a Firebreather mini (or ongoing?) that's being put out....I've never read any Firebreather, so don't know too much about it, but I'm pretty sure I see it sometimes pop up on the LCS shelf.

During that time period, there were so many good books going. I loved Jones' Hulk too.

Milligan has a story for Batman Confidential that is starting, I think, in July. With #31, whenever that is coming out. I'm stoked for it, because Batman is my favorite ever, but for the past I don't know how long, the Bat-titles have sucked (except for ASBAR, which I know is debatable to some--I love it!). I'm excited to read a new Bruce Wayne-as-Batman story by a really good writer.

I miss the old school Chaos! Comics. I almost have all the Evil Ernie issues and I'm still hunting down the rest.

And say what you want about the New Warriors series back in..ohh..99??

Steve Scott's few issues were AWESOME.

He's a big influence on any superhero I draw.

Also Firebreather, what happened to that series? Hope it'll get resurrected.

There's a series that comes out on an irregular basis. I think they may be putting some work into the cartoon, CG directed by Peter Chung for Cartoon Networks' new more teen-centric line of stuff.

I'll sell ya my X-Statix if you're interested. I've got the whole run. The first bit of the new arc in X-Force and then X-Statix, all in floppies. Lemme know if you want 'em. I'll make a swell deal.

Throw in La Cosa Nostroid. That was another all time fave of mine.

I'm gonna throw Brit in there, too. That series went out on a ****ing bang. Did you idiots buy it? Nate was blowing that shit out. And Kimo on writing?! That's a PJ ensemble, hos! And now look where it is! SHITCANNED!

Nice interview! heh.

I was just thinking the other day how cool it would be if Valiant was still around, and what it would be like for some of today's artists like Charest or Hitch to work on some of those titles.

I agree. Those were some great books. I thought I heard a rumor once about bringing them back. I wonder who owns the copyrights to those characters?

I bought and I have been reading X statix/force because of this thread...I had planned on doing it for awhile, but this thread reminded me. Simultaneously the most cool and depressing yet strangely uplifting thing I've read in awhile. I'd rather it end on it's own terms instead of sticking around and slowly spiraling into oblivion like runaways is though.

And I second nextwave, that could have run on the steam of it's own craziness and obscure marvel continuity for years.
