OK, I've started mine, I'll post it here when I finish.
Here is mine, 8 heads tall does not look right on him so I skipped one, I may attempt a redraw because I know it doesn't look right.

Does it have to be that picture of Bruce Lee, or can it be any picture of Bruce Lee?
Archerion

Well right now it would be that picture of Bruce lee. Just so that im not going over 10 different pictures and other members can help other since they did the pic.
Morganza that is fantastic.
The only thing i see is the stomach area. The reason i had you do a skeleton is to pick out the slight curve, from his chest to his hips, its only slight . I did a quick over paint to show you. Your rendering hes kinda straight in the waist there is just a hint of arc.
But again that is a very very good job.
Also remember 8 heads isn't exact just a method. If i was giving out grades that would be an A ^_^

I'm trying to work on one just to let you know. Also I wanted to say that 8 heads would be a little unrealistic unless we were morphing Bruce Lee into a different size. Considering 8 heads is heroic proportion and normal size is 6 and a half or so Bruce Lee being Asian is probably under that.

Had a bit of trouble with the ribs and the elbows. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks.

Did this silhouette in about 3-4 minutes. For some reason I keep drawing the right leg pulled in more than it should be.

Very nice crazy, you kinda took the draw the skeleton a little to serious but its very cool! I kinda meant how morganza did the stick figure. Even tho that is a great way to learn bone , and structure.
Aurora- 8 head doesn't have anything to do with height. More proportions to your head. He would be slightly taller than the statue yes but look at the chart Heroic is alot taller. Also its more about learning proportions and not just copying.
Here is a basic Layout of Proportion in relation to heads. Like i said before there not exact just a guide to help you.
Here is an image by the great Loomis.

Still working on the base sketch, haven't done much with his head/hair. My main issue right now is with his hand the one sticking out is at an odd angle I can't quiet get the tilted pointer finger correct any help?

Aurora-
How did you render your Bruce lee? Did you layout the skeleton get the shapes right then render?
Or did you render what you saw?

Skeleton (stick man) > fill out the basic shapes > refine shapes

I posted the second class just a second ago.
Telekinetic- your skeleton was done very good,
On the rendered peice i think you started loosing it a bit, keeping proportions to the head you ended drawing the rest of the body small

The bruce lee statue is kinda of a difficult to draw right off the bat. Hes as a weird angle pose, where hes not profile or not looking at you, he has a slight curve to him but hes not slouching.
You got the idea with your skeleton. I hope to see you participate in the future as well.

yeah I generally feel I could have done better I just had some issues with the head and stuff when I started rendering so it all kind of went to hell thanks though thats mighty helpfull. And I belive I will continue to participate

so I worked out that in a more toony figure the anatomy would be 6 heads? was that right ? and in that case would you care to show me where everything lands in that figure?
http://www.penciljack.com/forum/showthread.php?t=90174
I drew a character that doesnt relate to this thread here but I cant' quite figure out where everything lands in these dimensions? I would much appreciate it if you could help me a little?
Archerion
12-28-2008, 07:51 PM
Well the problem is that , cartoons are just sytlized, you need to learn proper anatomy and proportions in order to draw characters with out it and keep them looking natural.
Its strange i know. I checked out that pic of the girl. I dont really see anything wrong, other than you hiding her feet with the boot.
Telekintic what do you have problems with? Maybe i can do something up to help you out more. That goes with anyone doing these if there is a something your having difficulties or need more work with let me know.

Lower body stuff mostly, I don't really have problems with the foot and I wasnt really hiding her foot with the boot, she's an alien her legs/feet were meant to be large cone thingies with a suction at the end so you can acctually see the foot, its just that the foot is a suction thing.

His facial features look very small compared to the size of the head even with the big hair. I would add a little more space between them to position the each slightly higher on the head.

(I don't know if anyone can comment here, but just thought I might...)
A lot of people sometimes draw hair first then the features, which it looks like you did, so you may want to try and draw the facial features first, then draw the hair.

Allright, I blew threw this, without a skeleton, just blocks,
then rendering... which is one reason I'll probably never
get any better...no patience..
AND I did not scan any intermediary steps....next time
for sure...next time I will....
(yes, I know the face is poor, and his hands are huge, and so
on and so forth, I'll chalk it up to practice and anxiously await
the next installment...)

P.S. Thanks Archerion for hosting this thread....
