When Mike Mignola stopped illustrating Hellboy, I gave it a shot, but ultimatley decided to stop buying the book. I don't like Hellboy unless Mignola draws it.

It's not so much an art issue as it is the realization that Mignola's writing style changes when he's assigning drawing duty to someone else. He seems to add more fluff to the book and the plot, making the story flow very differently than if he just let his artwork tell most of the story.

I've always loved that about Hellboy; there's usually very little dialogue, but so much is expressed by the tone and the structure of each page, that more dialogue would only get in the way of the often spooky feel to the book.

In the Chapel of Moloch is classic Hellboy, and I really loved reading it. I hope Mignola goes back to drawing his own Hellboy stories so I can keep getting hooked.

My only complaint seems to be the trend of these flashback stories. Ever since Hellboy left the BPRD in Conqueror Worm, the MAJORITY of Hellboy tales we've been given since have taken place in the past. Granted, they're still really fun, but I want to see more Mignola stuff after The Island.
