I was thinking a few months ago about characters from DC and how a lot of them have one thing that makes them able to be the hero they are. I was thinking about writing up some short stories using this concept but I realized I don't know much about the ancillary and secondary characters of the stories to really do it, but still, I wonder what people think soooo...
The main two characters that gave me the idea was Superman and Batman and how they'd be if just that one thing in their life was altered that could change their life without changing it...So the first thought was that Kal El was sent to earth and landed in smallville, but instead of the kents finding him, he was raised by a woman beater and a prostitute. I would think that would change his entire outlook on humans and how he would act, but still I don't really know much about superman beyond the basics so who knows...
But then I thought Batman... Batman is pretty much able to do what he does due to the money he has and the father figure he has in Alfred, but what if Alfred was corrupted by the chance to take Bruce's money and did it leaving him to fend for himself.
I think that would be a great tale to tell as it would be able to show a skewed version of the Bruce becoming batman story and it would really show his obsession. It would also lead to ask what happens with Dick, Jason, and Tim which I would think... Dick would just go right into being Nightwing, Jason would become a crook, and Tim might still become Robin. It would also be interesting because Bruce must have attended various colleges in his youth and because of the lack of money would allow him to go to schools that might let him meat say Harley Quinn, Harvey Dent, and Riddler as college students. And because of the lack of money it would be interesting to see how he deals with getting his gadgets and such that requires money to get.
