Thought you guys might get a kick out of this. NUMB3RS is a show I watch every week. Tonight's episode was called "Graphic", about the theft of a rare comic book.
The theft happens at "ALT CON" in Los Angeles (sign-age done to resemble SDCC's). And in one of the display cases I spotted the WANTED graphic novel. Later on there was a big, glaring poster on the back side of a booth that happened to be one of Andy Park's 10th Muse #6 cover (from the Image run of the series). And I believe I spotted a whole bunch of other indy comics too -- the first one to leap out at me was QUANTUM: Rock Of Ages on a spin rack!!! They've been using panels from various well known titles to make scene transitions too -- the first one was a panel from the Witchblade issue where she's attending her partner's funeral in one of last year's issues. It's very interesting to see.
As well there's guest stars like the Wil Wheaton (Star Trek), Christopher Lloyd (Back To The Future) and others. And that was only 20 minutes into the episode. They even named the "original creator" character (Lloyd) ROSS MOORE. That made me think of Alex Ross and Alan Moore for some random reason.
The story is a bit confusing to follow but its really neat as they have different characters explain aspects of the comic book industry from collecting value, ownership of copyrights, forgeries, etc. They even compare art from the various "artists" in the episode to try to find the forger (like a copycat artist).
