Thanks!

I really like Wood's dual lighting style; that's something I'd love to incorporate into my own work. And of course he's a great inker. Also love his spaceship interiors, and his more cartoony style when he shows it.

The more I study, the more I find that there's tons of stuff to learn from the great artists of the past. Yesterday I saw some of Alex Raymond's Flash Gordon work in a book, reproduced straight from the original art; it looked waaaaaay better than seeing his printed stuff reproduced. I'm talking night and day. Utterly inspiring!

Drawn in 1976 when I was 13 years old.

http://www.iversonic.com/pj/Supes.jpg

This was for a birthday card for my grandfather's 64th birthday. He was a champion power lifter. This shows Superman after arm wrestling with my granddad (Supes lost :) ). I got this back in the early '90s after granddad died. Nice that he saved it.

Funny that I signed it "ETI" back then XD

If your subject is moving around, you might want to work on a few poses simultaneoulsy. When the subject moves back into one pose or another, you switch drawings until you have a complete one. Also helps if they suddenly decide to go to sleep.

Speaking of Wally Wood; with the lack of action on these last pages, I found myself looking for inspiration from Wally Wood's 22 panels that always work (http://images.google.com/images?q=wally+wood%27s+22+panels+that+always+work ).

Much thanks goes to Ugga and the ASJ gang for having confidence in me despite not previously seeing any of my sequential art.

That's pretty sweet, ETI. Only got the idea for the Gir draw off cos a gal who's organizing our exhibition loves the character and the group are putting together a sketchbook for her.

I'm sure she'll love to see the outcome. Really cool how you matched the colours.

Yeah! That got me turned on to Turner in a big way. I have a book that includes a lot of his (and other's) work, mostly uncredited: Wolrd Of Tomorrow (http://www.amazon.com/Worlds-Tomorrow-Amazing-Universe-Science/dp/B0009YARCS), but the repros are only marginally better than that online gallery.

The great thing about the Timm gesture drawings is that it gives you a chance to examine the ideas of the style below the surface. As you can tell, e_t_i, it's all about motion, rhythm and energy of the poses. Keep up the practice a while before you start in on trying to draw in the style. Try a few of your own gestures to see what you've picked up from Timm. Once you feel comfortable, try working up an illustration or two.

Haven't posted in a while.

I did pencils, some inks, letters, script alterations and colors for a re-creation of FF #1. My wife did most of the inks and came up with the punchline.
More on the re-creation here: http://wdetfm.org/shows/wdetraw/episode/FantasticFourRedux/

Sorry to say, but I kind of blame pummel for my getting burnt out on comics back in '09. :( Not ruling it out, but I'd rather just draw for fun and maybe profit, and not get into competitions at this time.

No problem, man. You left before I joined, so I was curious to see you in action.

Either way, have fun with what you're doing.
