View Full Version : Spike's Sketch-thread [Face Studies]
05-02-2007, 07:09 AM
Hi everyone. This is my first real post here at penciljack.
The following are some face studies I've been doing while trying to improve my art style and well....develop one.
More to come as I get back into drawing some more. I'd love to hear your comments and critiques on my work so far.

Very nice stuff; loose and confident. Were these done with pen?
I don't have any critique to give you, really. From what I can tell, you have a firm grasp on faces (these ones at the very least). I'd love to see what you do with full figures, action shots, backgrounds and so on.
In other words: post more.
Good to stumble upon your sketch blog and I do hope you post more. My sentiments mirror Norman's. I'm familiar with the line work and say it's graphic tablet work. Although organic, lines look very clean and plastic. That's not to criticize it but just an observation. Your rendering is quite skillful.

Yup, this is all done with a tablet. Rather than showing more old work. Let's just continue with the newer stuff, eh?

Some of the hatch lighting is inconsistant at times, but the proportions and drawing are extremely nice on these, Spike! Good stuff!

Thanks for the comments guys.
Here's some more stuff I'm working on:
As usual, any and all comments and critiques will be appreciated.

These are good. They do look like pen at times which can be a good thing I guess. There's nothing wrong with posting older stuff, it lets us see how you have been improving.
