It's one of my weird running gags. Anytime someone changes their nick I still call them by the old one and if they flip back I use the newer one, like Red7ine/Bryon Vaught, FoolKiller/Cory W.
Only works with the wiseacres though. I have to keep myself amused.

What's stopping you, Juan? You can draw anything you want to draw...if you really WANT to draw it.
Congratulations to Cory.

Coloring book drawings!!?? Are you mad man, do you know how difficult it is to stop at that stage of drawing and just leave it alone? Besides I believe Fool is filling a gap stylistically between Cho and Hester.

I'll just say this, I could draw like Finch pretty easy but Cory's are so clean and perfect that one mistake would throw off the image.

I'll just say this, I could draw like Finch pretty easy but Cory's are so clean and perfect that one mistake would throw off the image. Exactly my point (which everyone seems to have missed)...it's easier for me to do more with a drawing than it is for me to try a more Mignola style (less lines to define things), because in my mind, it just never feels like it's "finished" enough...because I keep wanting to add more and more to it. I've tried the more simplistic styling before, and I just can't do it...because it just doesn't feel like "me".
That's why I said I wish I COULD draw like this. If I did, then I'm sure I could finish pages a lot quicker in a style like this than the style I'm currently doing?
Does that make any sense at all? If not, ignore what I have said. :)

I love cory walkers art but haven't read anything from him since the spidey/invincible crossover, so this should be awesome. It also helps that I'm already addicted to the new ant man series...I think kirkman puts some sort of drug in the paper.

I have only read two posts by Pep today, and both of them were monosylabic nonsense. I know English isn't your first (or even second) language, but it seems somebody needs a nap.
This looks great and I'm only disappointed by the fact that it's not permanent. Cory on a regular book would get my money, guaranteed.

Yeah, Juan, I'm willing to accept that I mistook your meaning, but it did come across as pretty offensive. I think you all did. "Coloring book art" is just what I call the artwork that uses simplistic lines to create their art. It's a Juan thing I guess. It's not meant to bash anyone because I really do envy the guys who can actually do it. I wish I could just use a simplistic approach to my stuff...but I know it's not how I really want to draw...although if I were to go that route, I'd probably get a heck of a lot more done artwise.
Its actually harder to simplify your work than it is to get more detailed. Corys work just like Ryan Ottleys work shows well drawn figures and a good understanding of form to a degree that they can say a great deal more with less linework. Their economy of line is excellent.

Yeah, but it's also connoting that it's too simplistic and done solely for the sake of creating just to get paid, so that little children can scribble all over it later on. Almost as if it's not as difficult as "what you do." And I think we all know that's what it means. Including you, Juan. So stop acting coy and just own up to it.

I'd buy a colouring book if it had Walker art in it.
Seriously. That would rock. Then I could pretend that Corey and I are good buddies working on a comic together as I try to keep inside the lines.

Nahh, they need that kid that's coloring Ryan Ottley's stuff on Invincible. Crabtree I believe his name to be.

03-08-2007, 10:19 PM
Yeah, Crabtree already colors Antman, but that doesn't mean it'll happen.
I'm mosly looking forward to his own stuff or the invincible stuff. Stopped getting Antman after #1,I just couldn't get into it. I'll check out Cory's issues, but I PROBABLY wont buy them, if I have to buy the other back issues to get the story-same with his shadow pact stuff.

If it ain't digital, then it ought to be... Cory would be saving himself a lot of time and trouble. This style is ideal for digital illustration, espescially given that he's being pretty liberal with the duplications (not that I think that's a bad thing, 'cause I myself will do just about anything to save effort that could be more effectively applied elsewhere).
I'm saying it looks like he's doing it in Manga Studio or Photoshop, and if he's not then maybe he'd like to be... he could do this same style even more effectively.
weirdozhead
03-09-2007, 03:48 AM
it's superclean i know that.. some of the clouds do look a bit digitized, i'd like to know his technique as i'm trying to get an animation project off the ground.
whatever he's doing it looks great though
Inkthinker
03-09-2007, 04:27 AM
His style is pretty ideal for animation work, but it's a little heavy on detail. Only a little, though... with additional simplification he could be a good key or layout artist.

03-09-2007, 04:43 AM
If he did it digital he wouldn't have the cool originals to show off, or sell at conventions (which makes yah 2x the money for the same amount of work, woo woo)...:) Keep it oldschool Mr. Walker

You rolled your eyes via smilie, but isn't this the kind of attention you're looking for, Juan? You seem to revel in playing the bad boy rebel, so I would think it would be cool for you to be "infamous around these parts."
At least you don't have people calling you a "brown-noser."

Yep, because people automatically judge you around here before they give you a chance to explain what you meant.

Yeah, like I've really been going out of my way to start shit on here just to piss people off on purpose. I think I've toned that down quite a bit...no, let me rephrase that...I don't do that crap at all anymore. Sure, I can be snotty at times when someone is being a bitch to me, but I don't purposely go out of my way to instigate anything with anyone anymore.
At least you don't have people calling you a "brown-noser."Why would anyone call you a brown-noser in the first place? Just because you like someone's art...?
