Here's a couple sketches that I did in the past couple of days. I'll try to have a sketch up on a regular basis. This one's an updated sketch of Captain America (I got quite a few critiques regarding the incorrect graphics on Cap's shield)...so I'd thought I'd share it here:

Here's another sketch that I did earlier today:

Here's a sketch request that I got from another forum that I post to. I thought I'd give you guys a peek. I'm not totally comfortable with drawing from real-life since to me, it seems more like a gamble: sometimes you get it right...sometimes you get it wrong. But there was definitely a big challenge in sketching this character out. I love Mad Max films...well, except for the third one (Tina Turner?! Nooooo...) and I wanted to do this sketch some justice. Well, I hope you like it...enjoy!

By the way, if anyone has a sketch request, I'd love to try it out. I can use the practice!

I have a request, but it's not a known character.
It's "The Frenchman of Terror", a character in one of my comic books I am writing at the moment. I'm no professional but I'd just like to see some one draw a really good version of him.
On one other site some one drew him and it turned out really good. He got one or 2 things wrong but it was still good.

Here is a pick of him; you can draw him in another position or what ever you'd like to do. Go balls deep if you'd like to or not
?

I drew this one, there are a couple things wrong like his pants are supposed to be black and his belt is like a regular belt where you have to loop it through the whole. Also, his left elbow (our right) is too scrawny.

Like to see what you come up with if you want to do it or not.

NickGuy: Thanks! Stay tuned for more...

G-Man: Thank you for that compliment. Sure I'll take a crack at your character. Please bear with me as I've got a couple of other requests to do first.

literacysuks1: Thanks, dude! Yeah, Mad Max was pretty fun to sketch. There's more to come so watch for it!

I've got a couple sketches to post today: one request that I completed the other day and one that I quickly done last night. First, here's a request I got for The Blazing Skull. At first I had absolutely no clue who this character was and I had to ask a couple of my friends, who thought either I was making this character up or I was talking about Ghost Rider. Now that I think about it, my sketch does kinda look like Ghost Rider...go figure. I had a lot of fun drawing BS's skull head 'cuz I don't get a lot of chances to draw skulls these days. Come to think of it, I don't think I ever have.

http://www.studiomeridian.com/comicart/BlazingSkull.jpg

And next on the list is this sketch from another request...Naruto!! The person who requested it gave me a little list to choose from. If I remember it correctly, I think it also consisted of Ash (aka Bruce Campbell), Frodo, Psylocke, and Luke Skywalker...but yeah, Naruto was high on the intrigue factor. I wanted to try drawing him more western comic style...I was curious to see how he would look maybe even as a teenager/young adult. I mean he has to grow up sometime, right? I was going to draw Uchiha Sasuke back to back with Naruto but I'm constrained for time. Anyhoo, enjoy! And keep posting those requests, you never know what I'll be sketching next! Enjoy!

I dig the sketches, man. Nice to look at especially the Mad Max one. Not too sure about Cyclops compared to the rest of your other drawings. Is it a different medium or different type of pencil? Your work really seems suited to mechanical pencils.

Juan 2.0: Thanks, man! Glad to hear it.

greendri: Thanks! Cyclops was drawn on one of those days when I didn't feel like drawing...but it was drawn with the same type of pencil as the rest of my drawings.

I know I've been outta sorts lately but here's some sketch requests I got at another forum. First, we've got Ferro of the Legion. I really dig this character because I was a huge Legion fan back in the day.

http://studiomeridian.com/comicart/Ferro.jpg

Next up, is Batman. Had fun with this one...I don't think I've ever drawn Batman before. Tried to go for the All-Star Batman look.

http://studiomeridian.com/comicart/Batman.jpg

And finally a really quick and loose sketch of the Hulk. Enjoy!

Wow, been a while again since I've posted...but here goes!

I've never been one to go beyond pencilling my work but I wanted to try inking/toning for the first time. Surprised and relieved with the results. Gotta say my new favorites tools are Faber Castell Pitt artist brush pens, Pilot DR Drawing pens, ShinHan Art Touch double-tip markers and a Pentel fine point correction pen.

This drawing was a result of all the news I read about the new GI Joe flick coming out sometime next year. Pretty impressed with the photos but a trailer will reveal how good it can get. Have to say, I was amazed by how Snake Eyes appears in the photos, though. I'll be posting more sketches soon...Enjoy!

New sketch! I'm a big, big fan of Iron Man...especially from way back when I was a little kid. I used to think he was so cool. From the repulsor rays that shot out of his hands, right down to the cheesy (yet utterly useless) roller skates that came out of his feet. Remember that one?! Anyhoo, the movie totally rocked and they couldn't have cast anyone better than Robert Downey Jr. And as for Iron Man's look, I definitely have to give props to Adi Granov. I haven't seen Iron Man look this good. This sketch is based on the first Granov design and right now I'm so tempted to sketch out Iron Man's current look. Hopefully I'll get to it sometime.

By the way, I'm still taking sketching requests. It's a great challenge for myself to draw something I'm not used to...so keep them coming and keep them interesting. I'll be working on some current sketches mixing it up with some requests from waaay back. In the meantime, enjoy the sketch...

covie: Thanks! I'm really happy you like it.

For today's sketch, I thought I'd try my hand at drawing Thor but kinda went back and forth between the current version (aka Olivier Coipel's masterpiece) and the Ultimates' version. Obviously, I went with the latter...can't bear to compare my work w/ Coipel's :p Enjoy!

Cool stuff, for the most part.

If not for that Iron Man, though, I would think from the other sketches that you purposely avoid drawing feet.

Look forward to seeing more.

Popninja: That's really funny that you noticed that...because I didn't! :p I'm accustomed to drawing a bit bigger and usually end up emphasizing what I want to show. I have absolutely no problems drawing feet...just so happens that my sketches sometimes become too big to fit everything so anything from guns to feet may get cut off. Thanks again for the observation, though! Got a lot more to show...stay tuned!

I thought I'd switch gears a little bit this time. I got this sketch request from another forum that caught my eye and I simply couldn't resist. LOST. My wife and I are utterly nutso over this show...so much so that we once saw an entire season on DVD in two days...yeah, we're THAT crazy. Anyhoo, I thought I'd give Jack and Sawyer, two favourite characters of mine, a try. Hope you enjoy the sketch!

Dude your stuff is amazing! I'm sorry it has taken me so long to catch it. Great job with this LOST piece. I love you caught Jack's tattoo. BTW My wife and I did the same thing with Season 2. I called in sick to work to watch 2 straight days of LOST. Good times!

hydekomiksink: Haha...yeah, good times! Thanks for comment! Yeah, Jack's tattoo is so integral to his character (I love that episode in Thailand). I'm convinced that watching LOST this way is a sickness! ;) Sooo looking forward to the next season.

I was remarking at another forum that I find that I don't draw enough women. Maybe it's subliminal? Maybe because there "seems" to be more male superheroes than female ones? I don't know. Here's my try at Chun Li...the Street Fighter: Alpha version. I've illustrated a Ryu/Guile piece for UDON's Art of Capcom and tried sketching other characters like Bison, Dhalsim and Vega at cons but no girls. Weird. Anyhoo, I hope you enjoy the sketch...

I used to be part of an art studio waaay back that included some very talented aspiring artists. It's the work of a particular artist/friend that I wanted to focus on this time: Francis Manapul. I've been checking out his past work on Iron and the Maiden and I have to say he did some serious phenomenal work on that series. I'm constantly amazed by his pencil work and ability to tell a story. Granted, building on Joe Mad's incredible concept artwork is no easy task but Francis really kicked it. This is my first time sketching out the lead characters from that amazing book. Hope you enjoy it.

On another forum I got an Impulse request that I've been meaning to get to. Personally, I've always found Mike Wieringo one of the best artists who could really capture the feel/look of the speedster. I hope you like my take on Impulse.

**On a side note, for those wondering, all my sketches are available for sale. PM for details. In the meantime, keep those sketch requests coming! **

NickGuy: Thanks!

Here we go again! Today's sketch is Street Fighter's Ryu.When I first sketched this one out, I thought how cool it would be to add red as the only accentuating colour on top of my graytones. Ryu was a character I always liked playing waay back in the day mainly because he was so cool...and probably 'cause he was the only character that I remembered the moves for. ;) Anyhoo, compared to some Ryu/Guile and Ryu/M.Bison pieces that I did for UDON's Art of Capcom and Street Fighter Tribute books, respectively, I'd like to say I've kinda improved a little...at least I hope so. Hope you enjoy today's sketch!

For today's sketch, I did a really quick piece for a special auction for Wonder Woman Day on October 26th, with proceeds going to domestic violence shelters in Portland, Oregon. dude mind if I asked, do you use any refference or something like that for details on all of your drawings?
or your drawing with your mind only?

What?

My God.

You even drew an older Naruto in a non-Shippuden fashion.
