I enjoy your artwork. The first post with iron mans have a skew to them that really flattens out the images. And sometimes it seems like you are losing energy from the red pencil sketches that you have. That happens to be all the time though, so I have no advice as to how to fix that. Good stuff though. I look forward to seeing more.

I appreciate the compliment, but it's a bit disconcerting as that image is a photo-reference and after watching the HTDCt Marvel Way; it reminded me that more exaggerated motions work better for primary colored funnybook stuff.

Though taken for what it is, photo-ref; I guess that's kosher. Still I'd hate to become Tim Bradstreet Jr. :P

11 O'Clock Comics monthly sketch theme is redesign your favorite characters.

In my opinion my favorite characters are perfect already, so I'm just horsing around with things.

Such as this completely garish Captain America in which I wanted to give Cap some totally awesome thigh high boots.

More bad scans and redesign shenanigans.

First, a completely unoriginal origin story:

Daniel Rand. Wastrel son of British aristocracy whose family wealth was established in the dark depths of the opium trade. He is sent to China to oversee the families poppy interests.

While abroad Daniel became hooked on opium and neglects his familial duties. Disowned for his failures, he becomes a regular of the Canton opium dens. With no money Rand turned to thievery to fund his habit.

Rand runs afoul of mobster Yee Kwan Chung and is caught. As punishment for his thievery Chung orders Rand's hands cut off.

The crippled Rand is left to wander the streets of Canton; an outsider, destitute, and experiencing severe withdrawal from his addiction.

Rand comes to the attention of eccentric inventor Ziling Wing who sees him regularly in the street after business meetings. Wing brings the broken Rand into his home in an attempt to rehabilitate him.

Prior to his fascination with steam power and locomotives, Wing studied Hung Gar curriculum under Lam Fook Sing. Wing applies this martial science in his rehabilitation of Rand.

Rand takes to the fundamentals of the Hung Gar style in time, but his development is limited due to his handicap.

Wing sees this limitation and uses his inventive skills to craft steam powered gauntlets for Rand to take the place of his amputated hands.

The rehabilitated Rand is deeply appreciative of this amazing gift and excels in his martial studies, and becomes a confidant of Wing.

Meanwhile, Wing has been devising a plan to begin expanding the rail system into the Canton region. In 1899 Wing takes his proposal before Guangxu Emperor. Plans are underway for the rail system to begin construction.

The gangsters of the region are not pleased by this development, among them Yee Kwan Chang. Chang discovers not only is Wing planning to build a railroad which will impact control of the opium trade in the region, but is also an associate of Rand. Chang orders the execution of both men.

Chang's men attack during the night. Wing and Rand attempt to fend off the assassins, but Wing is mortally wounded during the skirmish. Rand is able to use his martial skills and steam powered gauntlets to disarm and drive off the attackers. Fleeing from Rand, the assassins set fire to Wing's home.

With Wing dead and his plans destroyed in the fire, railroad expansion in the region is put on hold.

Again alone in a foreign land, Rand takes it upon himself to exact revenge for Wing's death on Yee Kwan Chang and the rest of the mobsters in Canton. In time Rand's hung gar prowess and steam powered gauntlets earn him the nickname Iron Wire Fist.

In 1902 Rand's fight continues, and American interests begin construction of the Canton am Shui Railway. Soon he will meet former slave cum railroad worker Lucius Cage.
