Action Comics #844-(...and so on as each book is released)
Written By Geoff Johns & Richard Donner
Art By Adam Kubert

DC's Synopsis: "Geoff Johns (#54, TEEN TITANS) joins forces with
Richard Donner (director of Superman: The Movie and Superman II)
and artist extraordinaire Adam Kubert (X-Men, Ultimate X-Men) for
"Last Son," the tale of a small child from the planet Krypton. Sent
by his parents to Earth with powers beyond imagination, the child's
future potential is limitless. Especially when Superman finds him!"

So, upon reading this issue I entered with a great level of skepticism
and excitement to see what Geoff Johns and Richard Donner with
the talents of Adam Kubert, no less, could bring to the table of one of DC's
most iconic characters. Let's start with the art. Adam Kubert's work
on Action Comics seems a tad weird from his Marvel work, but the more
I read through the issue the more it felt more right to me. O.K. I'm going
to admit that so far the storyline is intriguing and I plan to read this title
in the months to come, but it seems like a formula that reads "been there
done that." COUGH COUGH Superman Returns COUGH Batman & Son. arc COUGH!
So, this is the worst review you've ever read, but I tried.

I enjoyed it, it is very interesting; However, in Donner's film adaptation Johnathon Kent passed away and in this issue he's alive. Very curious as to the direction with that topic. I've always been a fan of any of the Kuberts and Adam tackled this comic masterfully. Loved it!

Story wise it's too early to judge but from what I've read it's a great start.

I love Andy's Variant Cover BTW.

I've liked the story so far. Does anybody else find it odd that both of the Kuberts first stories introduced children and potential parenting situations into the lives of their respective characters?

It seems everyone is having children - - Batman,
Superman, Wolverine. Yeesh. Who next? Wonder Woman?

I flipped thru it and it looks lame. Theyre even changing his costume, look/hair and adding a kid so it can match right with the movie.

NO KIDS!!!!

damn why do they wanna screw with the formula all the time.

Like having a kid in the movie was widely accepted or something. They took the ONE thing that people universally hated about that movie and put it into continuity?

I loved it.
I loved the movie and the kid working into it.

In the comic it's not his kid.
last issue showed that it was *** Zod's *** kid.

i think superman having a kid is freaking brilliant.

I hope when the kid grows up he becomes a supervillian. Because I think in reality no one can grow up with a mother like Lois Lane and not become mentally unstable.

DC COMICS ANNOUNCES NEW CONTENTS FOR ACTION COMICS #847

3-D STORY MOVES TO ISSUE #848

DC Comics announces that part four of the landmark "Last Son" storyline written by Geoff Johns & Richard Donner and illustrated by Adam Kubert has been moved from January's ACTION COMICS #847 to March's issue #848.

ACTION COMICS #847 (DEC060189) will feature a new story written by Dwayne McDuffie (FIRESTORM) and illustrated by Renato Guedes (SUPERMAN: UP, UP AND AWAY; OMAC). With Metropolis under siege from General Zod and the villainous hordes of the Phantom Zone, Clark Kent's friends and family watch in horror as Superman heads into danger against the greatest odds of his career!

I find it so lame that DC would break up Donner/Kubert's simple 4 issue arc because they want to add some cheesy 3-D effects to the final issue.

I've read the first two parts, and I'm really enjoying it. I've always loved Adam Kubert's art. Honestly, Adam's one of the best comic storytellers of our time.

I'll just say for the record that this is probably
the first time I've been excited for anything
Superman in his own monthly book.

i read the second issue today with bizzaro....and im so dissapointed! he (kubert) made pa kent look 15 years old with stubble. clark kent looks horribly inconsistent the entire issue. one panel looks like teen clark, one looks like mid 20s clark and one looks like old clark! though i must say the panel with supes getting smacked by the bus is awesome!

Yup. I agree. I expected more from the artist. The last panel in that page (with Lois embracing the kid) and Supes looking while hovering, Supes' head looked ridiculous
