Just keep posting and drawing Nick. The last few have a good energy to them, I would suggest looking at some of Loomis' stuff and start working on proportions etc. Just keep that pencil moving. Oh and tone down some of the image sizes if you don't mind :)

Yes you can in Photoshop but pretty much any other graphic editor will do it. But in Photoshop go to image/size, make sure constrain proportions is checked so your image won't distort, then size it to the size you want. I would suggest 800px high. Anyway after you do that go file/save for web/, select jpeg (if it isn't already) at the right drop down box, adjust your image quality, (if you need/want to) and then save it. Viola'! You have just resized and possibly optimized an image for the web. It's like magic :rolleyes:

your next drawing, when you go to ink it, instead of using pens, use markers....or just skip the pencils and draw in marker. i dunno, something about the way a marker feels on paper is addicting to me.

Yeah, that's a good point. Pencils are solid, while Pens are liquid. They move more fluidly.

Tight pencils are unnecessary, but tight inks are not--how about submit one of your sketches for an inking challenge? Either way, I'd like to trying inking your stuff sometime.

i originally wanted to draw tarzan. but i had no pose. nothing dramatic. the best i came up with was this.

The sequentials you've got at the top of this page are pretty funny. Spidey and smokar look good too. You probably could have made smokar's hand a little bigger too.

Honestly though the little hatch lines you've got on the Thor pieces don't really do it for me. Maybe you could try the "triangles" to show dark to light or just go with bigger black like smokar's pants.

I moved from NYC to STL back in late march early april. my family has been against the move since the beginning. I dont want to go into details, but recently, my mother has gotten very hateful and venomous towards me lately, saying things like I can't go back to get my computer or my stuff because she threw it away. (and knowing my mother that's not a threat) she's even gone so far as to say i should give up trying to make it in comics because i'll never amount to anything.

I don't want to sound like i'm feeling sorry for myself, because that's not the point here. the point is that I want to personally thank each and every person that's ever commented on my blog, or any piece of art i've posted on here. we don't really realize what it's like to show someone our artwork. I've been a member here for 4+ years now, and i took compliments and other things for granted. For someone to say "good stuff!" or "you are improving!" or even a little thing like "cool pic" means alot! you wouldnt really think so most of the time, because its just two simple words, but it does. especially to someone like me, who doesnt show art to anyone.

anyways, my point is, i know when i post a piece of art or something in any lab, people dont flock to see it, or praise me for 12 plus pages on a little sketch i did of spider-woman. but to the people who do like my art, and say things like "cool pic" or "you're improving!"...thank you. thank you so much. even the people who say "that sucks, you need to fix this this and this"...thank you.:)

all right, enough of the sentimental shit. i'll have more update for you bitches soon.

The action on that 3rd panel is very dynamic! Great job.
It's a good strategy to borrow from other artists. You can add to your arsenal of techniques. Just make sure you stay true to your own style. How have the daddy shoes been fitting?

like a glove, brother, like a glove. 6 months in and im still enjoying the hell out of myself. right now were at the "dont put her near any edges or shell roll off" stage.

yeah, i wondered if that 3rd panel was too obviously "JRjr World War Hulk" homage, but i tried to keep it in my style. hopefully it doesnt look too much like jrjr's stuff, (although that would be kinda cool, knowing i could ape him so well! :)) i would have to rework it then.

yeah it has been awhile. busy with my daughter and trying to keep a steady job. i just got this computer from my girlfriends sister and internet yesterday, and im shopping for a scanner, since i left my old comp back in NY. its been a year of adjustments in 08 thats for sure. but hopefully this will be some stability!
