Hey everyone, long time no see. I got a new sketchbook, a Bateman. The pages are really great for pencil work. I really recommended it.

Some of the work is from P.E.I for all you Canadians, it's a great little island. I went with my girl for about week. We drove from Toronto about 1700 kms, my ass was hurting after that drive. Oh yeah I got a speeding ticket leaving, damn.LOL!

Lore Dwarf- A ancient race of dwarves that used to be great artist's, storyteller's and warriors. Individual Dwarves travelled abroad and recorded with words and drawings all they saw. Many of the books pages we're filled with drawings of the slain. Many feared them for tales tell of blood thirsty Lore Dwarves that wanted there sagas to be the greatest of all.And they killed to filll their sagas with heroic deeds. Each great volume is as distrinct as the Dwarf that wrote it, which makes them very sought after. Lore Dwarves also frequently travel in dark places that no one dares visit, so the knowlege in their books is extermely rare. Many desire to possess these great books, and sometimes traveller's come across dead Lore Dwarves and find there great sagas.No one has seen their tribes as they reside on the Norhtest parts of the world, and one can only imagine the great libraries that must exist in their villages.

I was in the USA when he passed away and never got to see him for the last time. My brother took this pic before he took his last breaths.

He will be missed, he was my best friend and a great dog. He was a German Sheaperd mixed with Irish Wolfhound. He was about 10 years old.

Man...I'm so jealous because I'm so strapped for cash and have a really slow computer (problematic running programs) and no Wacom. My friend has an A3 size one. (sorry...don't know the metric system for inches) and demonstrated coloring on it. It looks pretty easy to use and stuff just looks heaps professional provided a person knows how to use it. How long did that illustration take you to do Mack?

greendri- The wacom is a great tool, but it's still only a tool. It doesn't matter what medium you use that defines your skills.
I have the 9x12 inch tablet. This illo took ame about 10 hrs. I'm not the fastest painter.:o . I still prefer to work traditionaly and only use the computer for colors.You can get a small wacom for pretty cheap.

Mack- the character designs and studies are really good but the highlight of your SB for me are the water colors. nice work.

Lumosart-thank you. I use Photoshop CS2 for all my digital work. The textures are a combination of photos and custom brushes and a lot messing around in PS.:D

i'm really liking your rendered stuff, is that being produced in corel painter? it looks like it, and i mean that in a good way. i've recently picked it up myself and i'm trying to learn how to utilize it as best as i can. so far the results are less than spectacular, but if you are in fact using it then i'd say you are getting some really decent work out of it. any tips?

Victor-17- glad your inspired. :D I have a 9x12 tablet and it's really bulky for travelling. Also i personally work on one side of the tablet, i've recently switched sides because the one side is worn while the other is nice and shiny. I have actually been thinking about getting a smaller tablet.

Those T-shirts look great except for the ones in yellow print. They are not as strong design-wise as the rest because of the symbol sitting in the middle and the pattern on the right. Probably looks good worn though.

Is the last pic based on a life drawing or is it cooked up. The reason I ask is because that would be an uncomfortable pose to hold. Have you tried using charcoal before? That would be the medium that would be quicker to use for your tonal approach in your drawings. You can even mix up pencils details in the face area once you spray fixative on the charcoal. Just a thought but if it's just random sketching on a page to fill disregard what I said.

greendri- that pose is from a photo ref. I use to use charcoal all the time in school. I prefer pencil.

And i never try to hurry my art, that is one of the best lessons I have learned. I always take as much time as possible with my art, there no hurry. Not to mention that the scanner does a poor job of making the scan look like the original.:mad:

And yes, this is a sketchbook for ideas and random doodles.:D

The rendering is awesome. What's your process? Are you lightboxing over the rough? Using a computer? Redrawing from a thumbnail?

Repo Man- thanks. Actually over the last year i started sketching digitally.
The computer allows me the freedom of messing around and experimenting quickly. So once i am happy with the sketch i print it, and then i trace the sketch on to a piece of britsol paper and start rendering with HB pencils. I just feel more comofrotable with ttraditional rendering.
Once i finish the pencils i scan it back into the computer and clean it up with photoshop.

Really like the rendering and flow of the clothing folds on this piece. The textures look good.

I can't help but think it's not complete. Maybe a misty bg to add some atmosphere.

The apple study is excellent too. I like the white scratch effects.
