Dude, one thing I can say for sure is that you've already improved a lot from when you first started posting here. I love the Thor and the Shocker, and I actually see a ton of potential in that little dude in the corner of the torso studies page. Keep posting dude!

this is already at the top so I hope noone has problems with me bumping it. Its not that I'm not drawing, but my scanning situation only lets me post on weekends and sometimes not even then....unfortunately. Hopefully that explains the rare updates

because u show alot of potential and determination. I'm going to give you a book that is helping me. It's called 'Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain' by Betty Edwards. I'm in college and that was the book we used in 101. It will make u think about how u draw more. No one can actually learn to draw, but it teaches you how to differentiate the two. Read it.

Hey man. I can see that you're totally doing
an awesome job with these new drawings. I'm
feeling a Tony S. Daniel (see current Teen Titans)
style. I think you just need to get tighter with
hands (like many before me have mentioned.)

I'm loving the Batman versus Spider-Man sketch.

hey man your movin' along quite nicely you've got most proportions down, poses are fasntastic but for now i think some anatomy and foreshoring studies to hone your skills (cause you got em! ) would be in order. sometime even drawing directly from an anatomy book is great (we all do it.) but really, your doing great stuff for your age. im 15 and i've been drawing, painting the works since i was 3 or 4 and im still growing as an artist and so will you.

Yeah, I thought the hood was off too. I did the doom one and some others with another guy at deviantart. We have 30 minutes to crack out a decent sketch of whatever the subject is, and my 30 minutes was up so I coudn't really change too much of it. I'll keep it in mind if I draw doom again to make him more menacing.

Joshua You are on the right track with 'Marvel way to draw comics' book. Because you're pretty young you'll only get better. There is no gauge as to how you will develop as an artist but I must say you have an understanding that will help. Your passion to draw will also get you to where you want so keep learning. It so cliche but learn from life. It's free and so is the library.

love it, man. You've made a lot of progress. One thing I noticed, your female waists. even on males, the abs thin inward just under the chest. The female waist should come inward more dramatically, and expand just as dramatically around the lower abs. It's easier noticed from behind (I would know :D), it's what makes the bum look so wide.

Wow...someone can read my hand writing? I actually stole that line from the comic. The guy in the antman suit and lead character had finally confronted a bunch of shield agents who wanted to get the suit back, the verbal excange is like this...

Ant man: Let's go Mitch! I'm READY! I'm through running from you!
Mitch carson: You're FINALLY ready to face me, you coward?
Ant man: actually NO--not really.
Ant man: Sorry to disappoint you, but that did distract you enough for me to think of an escape plan.
Ant man:ANT MAN AWAY!
then he jumps out of a window.

Thanks for the comment and about the waist thing, I'll work on that.

It was a weird villian idea I had. She has this elastic suit that snaps outward really far whenever she puts a lot of motion into something. So if she were to punch (or in this case kick), the suit extends and whips out like that and delivers a heavy blow from really far away.

Heres another concept sketch I was going to keep hidden so that this post isn't pointless :P

I had a plan for her. I just wrote issue 3 so in 4 or so acrobat will stop one of her jewel heists, but she ends up getting away. Out of costume acrobat meets the new girl in the high school...finding her voice VERY familiar. They both realize who eachother are at the same time and can't reveal ones secret ID without getting outed leading to a..strange relationship. But she won't talk much during battle, mostly telling acrobat to shut up.

Edit: and there are my ideas so that passerby can steal them...I don't think I have to worry about it though >_<

The acrobat pages did have nicely finished lines, and it makes a huge difference. I realize that many of these are sketches, but some of the other pages look like they were done with a blunt pencil, and the messiness detracts from the effect you are trying to convey.

I just finished an issue of acrobat, the second issue was only 19 pages but I'm still proud of actually getting done with it. I'll put up some scans from the pages when I can.

Heres another villain design for acrobat, his name is burn and he pretty much does what his namesake is. He teams up with another villain named drown (ha!) who I'll put up designs for later. and I tried to keep my lineart nice and clean just for you ugga bugga :P

Wow, you've very much improved in the last few months. I would suggest putting an equal effort in your female figures as you are in your male figures. Backgrounds as well. Believe me; it will be twice as hard to master them later after you've mastered the male form. Good work.

You are steadily improving and are cleaning up your style. It's good that you are putting characters into an environment as well. Just practice your use of perspective and how the characters will sit in the space you give them. You've got it right for the most part but there are times you can drop the horizon line or raise it to make the drawings seem right.

http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t253/everdri/acrobat217.jpg

I can't articulate it like others on this board because it is a hard subject to grasp. The figure on the ground I would say would have more of the top surface of his body showing. It's the angle and how much of the alley that is seen would warrant it. Just remember if things go above the horizon line you wont see top of it. In this case in the first panel, you wont see the top of the ambulance on the left.

2nd panel, I would say that the guy looks too tall. Maybe there is nothing in relation to his size. Maybe if you positioned him next to an object? The reason that the perspective looks off even though it's well measured is that you were better off with a one point perspective (Cos u can't see the ground). Take the first 3 buildings towards the left. Great! Then you go to the building behind him and the angle seems too extreme. The figure is not following any perspective either. Just make the right hand vp farther away rather than at the end of the panel. Was going to link Inkthinker's way of cheating a vanishing point but I can't find it in the tips and tech section.

Nice work. Keep it flowin.

I'd say great job on the amount of work compiled here. My only assistance that I can offer is proportions. it's the toughest, and believe me the longest to over come. I still get thrown off by proportions all the time. When those fall in line your work will be on top! Your rendering and shadows are keen! They set the tone and make the shapes stand out. Your poses are great too. Very dynamic.

Thanks rockpencil and giver of laughs, I'll hopefully improve in proportions with time and study and I spent enough time tweaking that flash drawing that I don't think I want to go back to it..I may burn it >_>

Great job Lit,
try varrying your panels from just rectangles and squares add some angles to intensify the action and to change things up. Try to think of storytelling as a beat, norm norm norm bam! norm norm norm bam! This way the reader is more inclined to pay attention to panels and pages instead of just flipping right through the book. Great improvement though man. I love seeing your skills grow. Keep it up! :)

Thanks, by adding angles do you mean varying the shots within the panel or changing around the balance of the panels themselves? I've seen some artists do diagonal panels and twist them around but it's always been a bit distracting to me, same with the panels that overlap all over the place for no reason.

But yeah I'll try to vary my layouts a bit, all of the pages of the comic I'm doing have 8 or so panels per page so I've been more concerned with fitting it all in then making it interesting which seems to make the pages suffer.

Rough concept (meaning I'll forget about it and end up redoing it) for a villain for my acrobat webcomic.

Just finished doing this for my art class, the dragon sucks and my composition could have been improved...but at least it's done by the due date.

Yeah I don't know where this came from...I just felt like drawing a bit more cartooney

EDIT: I seem to keep doing that same standing position as my default pose for when I can't think of anything better....I have to work on that

The ripoffish tom omni against a villain I named The Vampsire because puns are fun.

This drawing looked fine to me...until I flipped it in the gimp and saw how messed up that punching looks. Also yes I pretty much just drew the vampire thing from the comic Jack Staff and renamed it.

I'm jealous... you draw and finish you seqentials to the point of complete comic books. Sheesh, I won't touch the things. How long does it to just draw the pages for one issue? seriously i'd like to know.
Last time I attempted a seqential page I was draw from a sample script here on PJ and spent 10-15 hour one page just trying to lay the stupid thing out. Could not do it. So, I talked to my art teacher (who I later found out to be an art-stealing-wretch) and told me to work on my composition, rendering, and anatomy/proportions. Still studing! Oh, well I guess i can postpone my Dark Force comic for the 3 year in a row.:p

keep up the good work!

Thanks, well one page takes 3 to 5 hours, they'd take longer if I rendered more but I stay kind of simple. I haven't done them as quickly lately because i have to write a bunch of reports but I usually average 4-5 pages a week so an issue is done in a little more than a month.

Also not that I'm an expert or anything but I read "making comics" by Scott Mccloud and recommend it because the info in that helps a lot when I'm laying out a page. That book covers everything about telling a story sequentially and gives a lot of good examples of angles (which I should be using!) to help tell your story as clearly as possible.

eh I'll just send a private message so that this post doesn't go on too long.

EDIT: and if anyone wants to pop in and give better comic advice so that I both me and sadman can use it please go ahead. It'll raise this topics post count and will make it look like I draw more than I do >_>
