Peek into the sketchbook, I'm going to try to sketch enough to keep this thread up and running. Summer's coming soon, hopefully I can use my time for good.
without any adu what so ever:

Allegory of life's temptations or Death handing a midget a balloon...you decide.
seriously, does that look like a midget or is it just me? And what can I do to fix it.

And hopefully this'll grab some attention:

I'm not sure why she's standing on a coin...she just seemed petit while I was drawing her...so I made her really petit

Oh, that poor boy's hands... he cant even grab the ballon death is giving him... That death, hes got creative ways of torture
Pretty nice overall, the last one looks like you took a bit of time to draw.. the one thing that looked off to me was her ear, it looks a bit high on her dome, should be a bit lower. Also, im not sure the cylinder shes standing on matches the perspective her feet are at. Still, nice draw-rings

To de-midgetize the guy: narrow the shoulders, thin the eyebrows, and broaden his cheeks. On children, the eyes should be below the half-way line and their chins are not pronounced.
Hope this helps!

and the advice on children's faces was very helpful.
Thanks a bunch.

Well, got some new stuff to update with, just random sketches without rhyme or reason. I'd love to hear any comments or crits, the pointers I got last time really helped.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v475/quantumz/nerd.jpg
and I cleaned up the girl just a little: brought the ear down a bit and fixed her shoulder, actually spent a little time on the base so it looked better, cleaned up some lines.

Did some Rogues Gallery sketchin'.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v475/quantumz/rogues.jpg
The two face and catwoman are pretty flat compared to Joker...I like him the most so I spent the most time on him.
But I felt bad that my catwoman turned so crappy, so I tried this:

So...second installment of the continuing thread is in...
I might actually be able to keep this thing going!

Nice sketches, keep em coming. But, is it just me, or is the girl-on-a-coin's ear actually higher in the revamped pic? It looks worse to me.

Yeah, it might be,
she was kind of a tough one for me, the first drawing I did looked best, then every time I tried to fix something something else got worse.
anyway, I've moved on.
new sketch,
actually, it's sorta past a sketch, wanted to see what you guys thought.

new stuff:
here's some cute little heros, plus Dr. Orpheus, and a guy in a hat from Pirate Baby, also there's a dude yelling in the corner....
I just draw this stuff as it comes to me.

and kinda liked where that last girl was going, so I did some more in the same line:

Okay, new stuff as of end of May.
Working on value, getting shadows right,
who better but the Lord Mignola. So I am going to be trying to incorporate more shadow and black into my sketches.

It's interesting that you decided to start working with shadows when you did those mignola sketches, but then you didn't do any after that. I would suggest developing that, it's great practice. I'm trying to do the same.

:o It's funny you should mention that,
I was working on the heavy-shadow stuff, but it takes longer. I have just finished up a batch and will scan and post tomorrow, hopefully they will be acceptable :p
Come see em tomorrow!

So, I've been workin' to develop a Mignola-esque style -- trying to get used to drawing from value and shapes instead of from outlines
Inspired while watchin my new Pulp Fiction DVD.

John Travolta looks a little f'ed up, but I'm really happy with Uma and S L J

I kinda wanted him to look a little nerdy in person, without the helmet, not sure why.
will try to go back and color the part on the right all Art Deco like, it'll be hard though.

This is your best in here so far. You should strive to draw everything using these techniques.
