Okay folks, who do you think is a stronger leader? Captain Picard or Professor X. This questions comes from a silly arguement posed my my friends just this past weekend over which Patrick Stewart Role was better?

Have at it! Luv to hear what you guys think :D

Professor X is limited by his dream and his desire to see it come true. This limits him because there are those that oppose his dream on all fronts, humans, other mutants, etc. They fight him tooth and claw about it. And he still comes out with that childlike naivete that it will still work out and there will be peace. Xavier has been in war, and even turned evil, but instead of making him a stronger leader, I think he lost sight of what people- including himself can be like, and chooses to be a blind optimist.
Very noble, but not realistic.
Picard on the other hand is a seasoned explorer who has also been in war and has been turned evil. He came out of it all with a "try-to-make-peace-but-be-ever-ready-to-kick-@$$" attitude. He will always try a diplomatic solution first, but he doesn't hesitate to drop the hammer when it needs to be dropped.
Picard is stronger because he is willing to make sacrifices, because he knows how to listen to his subordinates, and learns from his own mistakes. Xavier doesn't.
Don't get me wrong... Xavier does a good job, but not as good as Picard.

Picard looks better in a red and black unitard, that's for damn sure.

Picard has a giant ship that could distroy the world.

aw... see now that's a whole 'nuther thread ;)

Me i'm leaning towards Professor X for it seems that his people will DIE for him, while Picard's people... Well they really really like him and will go out of their way to save him.. but die? I donno. The x-men seem more like a family. next generation gang seems more like a close group of co-workers.

This is a tough one.

Putting aside the obvious differences of psychic powers/huge starship...I am going to have to go with Picard. Why? I tell ya.

Prof.X has little to no leadership ability in 'the field'. He can provide guidance to his team and a strong moral fibre. Picard on the other hand has had Starfleet training, can handle himself and a team of personell in the field. He has shown time and again that he has what it takes to make hard choices and stick to em.

Well... thats my position set up. :D

You obviously didn't see Stark Trek: Nemisis.
The Next Gen characters are co-workers. Picard is the boss.
The X-Men are a family, and Xavier is the kind grandpa who always gives kids a nickel.
But as was said, in the field, Xavier isn't all that. He could link everyone telepathically so that they could be in constant contact in combat, but doesn't.
