Honestly, I can't tell who's better off.
If luck and chance is entered then Solo takes it on protagonistic basis alone. Plus he's a mean cat.

Boba fett tracked solo to Bespin and took part in a ambush which captured Solo. That said, he got taken out by being accidentally hit in the back with a stick. This is a difficult one.

Solo has a soft side, Boba Fett saw his dad's head get chopped off in front of him. Thats gotta have made him into a bit of a bad ass. My moneys on Boba Fett.

depends on your definition of "da man" (oh how bill clinton of me)

If you mean, he's amusing, entertaining, dependable, thrilling, sexy *ahem i didn't say that*, and brave then it's Solo hands down.

If you mean he's ruthless, tough, cool looking and obviously emotionally scarred into being a badda$$ then it's Boba Fett.

Hard one to call, but fun topic :) Fett did find Han but who knows (strictly speaking from the films not the books or comics or anything else) how really tough he is. He never really DOES anything. Oh sure he's a clone of his father and well his father kicked Obi-wan's behind (or tried) but we never see HIM do any fighting. Shooting a gun and running a space ship don't really count as da'man. I think assassin lizzard lady in 2 (which don't get me wrong i HATE the new three) is seen as tougher than him, simply because we SEE what she can do. eh, like i said, hard one to call.

Not to go all Kevin Smith on us, but if we're talking the Han Solo that fired first, no contest. Plus kudos to Harrison Ford for wanting to kill him off for having "no back story".
Therefore, via slightly roundabout logic, Han Solo has no emotional scars. Therefore he has nothing to hold him back, making him a mercenary focused purely on the job.
And as anyone who has read Machiavelli's The Prince knows, always beware of mercenaries.

Unfortunately I've forgotten the dozens of novels relating to Solo, especially the Corellian trilogy which gave some insight to his past, something about him being exiled royalty or something, I forget.

Anyway, I think a lot of Han's success comes from his completely loyal, life-debt partner Chewie. Knowing he has some muscle behind him, he's free to be a bit more reckless. Fett really relies on himself.

Han, may be a cool guy, but he's a smuggler, not a fighter. His main priority is money. His ship is built to carry freight, modified yes, but still not an attack vessel. Fett's ship is a weapon, pure and simple, that's all it does.

They've probably been in an equal number of fights, but I'm going to give the edge to Fett.

DARGH! i can't get away from it! (we're teaching it in class this week) DAMN IT WILL lol lol lol

*runs away screaming*

good point though. Don't trust a mercenary

or a desperate on a budget bride-to-be on 50% off day at David's Bridal. They put mercenaries to SHAME. ;)

I think my old roomate had a starwars novel.
Didn't they both just grow old and not fight each other?

I said Fett based on the fact that I always thought he just Looked cooler both as a toy as well as a movie character. It's dissapointing to have had him die the way that he did and that's probably why they made his "dad'' so much cooler in the new movies. Then, there's also the lineage I made up for him (http://www.geocities.com/fatmancomics/jaimejedi.html) that sways my vote.

My backpack's got jets
I'm Boba the Fett
I bounty hunt for Jaba Hutt
To finance my 'Vette

Well I chill in deep space
A mask is over my face
Well I deliver the prize
But I still narrow my eyes
'Cause my time
I don't like to waste.

Boba all the way.

The Jetsons had jetpacks. Are you seriously telling me George Jetson could beat up Han Solo? You make the rules!

considering that in the comics and the novels Boba Fett survives the sarlacc pit, comes back to hunt Han down then gets taken out by Chewie... Chewie wins. Plus Hans nothing without Chewie.

This is wrong. Read Tag & Bink: Special Edtion (http://www.darkhorse.com/profile/profile.php?sku=13-691) and all will be clearer..erer?

Solo is better even if he is a sneaky bastrad and shoots first.

Probably won't get the chance to track it down...
Spoil it for me and tell me what happened.

The short answer is this: That wasn't Boba Fett on the skiff that day. It was Bink in Boba Fett armor...who was tied up on his own ship.

Read half that book my roomy had (the one I mentioned in an earlier post), and now that I'm kinda educated I gotta go with Boba.

1:He fell into that living pitt thingy, blew it up, and crawled his way back out.

2: He destroyed 3 IG=88 droids (the Uber-batman ninjas of bounty hunters)

Solo's still alive cuz he's good at runnin.

you cats all seem to forget that solo kicked boba's ass in dark empire. seriously, solo is the man. if it wasn't for his fence sitting he probably would have amounted to more than a sperm donor for the jedis.

Chewie beat boba in dark empire too... he tore off his mask and sent boba careening into the roof on his jetpack.

Boba fett does look pretty cool. But as was mentioned earlier, solo who was blind, already beat him.

Uh...wasn't this fight covered in the movies? Han took Fett out.

Throw whatever circumstances you want on top of it, but that doesn't change what happened and the outcome. Han took Fett out.

Either in a gunfight or close combat, Solo's got the better of him. He's able to hold his own in a family full of Jedi's isn't he?

Fett would beat solo but an angry and devastated Chewie would rip fett apart. Although I bet he'd make a nice rug. so if fett could win he'd make his ship floor very stylish with a one of a kind Chewbacca rug.

I know, I know. sorry!

Solo is way more fun at the bar -- look at all the trouble you can get into with him.

Fett on the other hand seems a little cold and inpersonal, i guess he gets that from his dad.

My vote is with Solo - he helped destroy a Death Star(twice), survived being frozen in carbonite, saved Luke's pansy ass on Hoth, hooked up with a princess, and always seems to come out on top when Fett is involved.

Han Solo is one of those guys who needs to rise to the occassion.

He is, quite frankly, a bit of a slacker and carouser when left to his own devices. When provoked he is a very different person who wins now, asks questions later.

The expression "let sleeping dogs lie" applies here.

It depends on the circumstances and arena.

If Fett has the luxury of a decisive, surprise attack, he can win. If Han survives that initial attack or sees it coming, Han wins.

Of course, put Solo, Fett, and Chewie in a pit with nothing but clubs on a Sunday at 12:30 in the afternoon and I promise you that Chewie will be home eating wings and drinking beer by kickoff.

Stormtrooper effect, ya can't kill the good guys in these movies.

The descriptions I've read of Fett put him on top. The tufts of fur on his armor are supposed to be Wookie scalps. He is supposed to be the big badass of the Galaxy and supposedly a match for even Jedi Knights (originally the Mandalorian armor he wears was used to combat Jedi and is resistant to light saber strikes). All of this has been changed to fit nicely into stories where the heroes win the day, which is appropriate, but belies his bad-assedness (or is that bad-assitude?).

Anyway, Fett FTW!
