View Full Version : Daredevil Versus Nightwing

This may sound a bit cliche, but... what if: Daredevil versus Nightwing.
Both heroes are very similiar in the fact they lost their parents at a
young age causing both to make a huge impact on the rest of their lives.
Also, both heroes use similar weapons, aerial fighting tactics, and have
had a mentor teach them to fuel their talents a majority of their lives.

Personally, I think this could be a fight to death as each hero would
refuse to lose. I think Dick Grayson could put up a great fight, but
when it comes down to it, Matt Murdock would probably be the last man standing.
What do you guys think?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dick Grayson: So what do you call this thing, anyway?
Batman: The Batmobile.
Dick Grayson: That is totally queer.
Batman: Shut up.

Daredevil has superpowers....Nightwing does not.

if it was a fashion fight to the death, then daredevil would loose out, with his pouffy red suit with the little horns.... but id have to agree with cwmax, superpowers do tend to give one a certain edge over ones opponent...

superpowers aren't what give him the edge...he's just more badass is all. Batman would totally kick the crap outta DD. Totally.

Nightwing's a puss. DD would eliminate his ass in 5 seconds flat.

I disagree. I LOVE DD but Nightwing has been trained to take down any opponent, regardless of the disadvantages he has. Daredevil moans and complains about his miserable life for a living and makes stupid decisions-- Nightwing takes action.

Man... this is a toughie. I'm a fan of both characters and
I really wouldn't know. I mean Daredevil was trained by Stick
and has some of the best writers (Brian Michael Bendis,
Frank Miller) attached, yet Nightwing has an untapped potential
waiting to be released. I'm going to go for the little man this time
around just because Nightwing can be badass if he needs to.

if batman can kick DD's ass and dick was trained by him and might possibly fill the mantle one day, im sure he could mess up him with some gadgets that go boom.

i never read any Daredevil comics, but he does hold a natural edge on Nightwing in that he's got supersenses.
In theory Nightwing should be one of the best Human superheroes around, Trained by Batman, a natural athelete, loads of gadgets, and in his team books is made out to be the man. but when it comes to the bat part of the dc universe, Grayson seems way weaker. He's written to differently in those books to give far more superiority to Batman then he deserves, and Devin Grayson's recent writing on the book would make you think he can't handle a 9-5 job, let alone be a superhero.
If I had to pick one though, I'd still go with Nightiwng, cos one I'm a fan, and two, like Anti Herox said, he's got so much untapped potential. I mean when the JLA was thought dead, Nightwing led a new JLA, so its made out, he's got the talent, he's just given a backseat for the older fan boys. I reckon if he had to, he could take Daredevil.

It's possible that he might one day fill the mantle, but highly unlikely. Batman is a one of a kind and no matter how much training anybody ever does with him, they will never surpass him. Dick would put up one hell of a fight, but in the end DD would win.

Nightwing is Batman but better-- without the psychological baggage and emotional complexes of his former teacher/friend/whatever.
Don't get me wrong, I love DD, I do-- but Nightwing is the best of both worlds-- the heroics and ethics of Superman with the skills and drive of Batman.

Nightwing was trained by Batman, but he's not Batman.
I think Nightwing would fall short on this one. Daredevil just has too much physical prowess, he can do stuff that unfortunately for NW, can't be taught. While NW maybe stronger and have a wider range of attacks DD would definitly outmaneuver him.

Nightwing (or Batman, for that matter) could not sneak up on DD thanks to his super-hearing so a sneak attack is out of the question. DD's sense of touch gives him acrobatic abilities on par with Nightwing but DD hits harder. Nightwing is a sidekick who grew up. He's ok, but DD is just more ruthless.
Honstly, DD would be a match for Batman himself.

They've done that comic before. Nothing new ¬_¬
And this isn't a question on Batman, this one's closer to fantasy warfare, because its one they've never given us.
The thing which I find interesting about places like PJ and other comic forums is that the fans are always more skewed then the mass market on the net. Nightwing + his Teambook still outsells all Dardevil comicsout there monthly.

I think I have to agree with Chris, even though I hate to give the nod to Daredevil. The super senses would be too much to overcome. All of Nightwing's tricks and tactics would be rendered useless.
And since when did sales numbers equate to one character beating another? We're just playing "What If" here; I don't think sales really factor in, you know?
I mean, for example, if you consider sales, you'd think Batman would beat Captain America, but that's just clearly not the case.

Well in DC vs Marvel Wolverine did beat Lobo to a pulp within the space of a page. and that was based on fan votes, so I was just saying, if you measure it by those methods, Nightwing defo gets the nod.

This shouldn't even be a debate. Daredevil would own this dude. Dick Gayson doesn't have the heart or the grit.
But I like Scott McDaniel's Nightwing better than his Daredevil.

Well, the fight between both heroes was pretty close, but
now looks to be in favor of the man without fear, Daredevil.
However, this doesn't mean the end for Batman's former ward
either. There's six more days to decide - Daredevil or Nightwing.

Well, Most fans are crazy. They voted on the "Who's coolest factor", wolverine didnt even have his adamantium at the time, so Lobo wouldve CRUSHED HIM.
Anyways, i say Daredevil for obvious reasons... POWERS!

I know, but you dismissed Nightwing so quickly because Darevdevil has powers.
But if you stuck Batman up there, who's a human, and nothing more, you wouldn't simply claim Daredevil would beat him because he's got powers. And be fair, Nightwing is basically a more agile Batman in exchange for a little less mental prowess. I don't think its truely as big a difference as some people believe.

I agree with you smygba on that one. Nightwing at his best is
a formidable hero at best. He is an excellent hand-to-hand
combatant with an aptitude for martial arts and acrobatics.
Daredevil, however, does have a mutation heightening the
other four senses: smell, taste, hearing and touch to
superhuman levels. Mutation also resulted in a sixth sense of
radar enabling ability to perceive objects and movement with
a 360 degree radius. Yes, logically Daredevil has the upperhand, but
that's not going to stop Dick Grayson. It's just a matter of luck and determination.

Daredevil's powers are a factor, but I think this fight would be won on character also. Daredevil just seems to be more of a desperate fighter. He has more grit and heart than Nightwing does. When you combine that with the fact that DD has also been trained in the martial arts since his early youth, he's extremely agile, and just as durable as Grayson... When you factor all of that in with DD's heightened senses, I just don't see how Nightwing could take this.
I think Daredevil vs Batman may be a different story though. Batman's better than Nightwing at adapting to stuff during the midst of a fight. He's probably still better than Nightwing at the martial arts, so he'd give DD more of a problem there. He's willing to do all of the stuff Nighwing won't -- Batman fights dirty. And he's relentless. Plus if Batman has any time at all to prepare and plan for DD then it's over. I remember the Batman and Daredevil crossover that Scott Mcdaniel did a while back. It didn't take Batman long at all to figure out DD is blind.

Bleh. Nightwing is a gymnast, a... tumbler. DD's onboard radar automatically negates any surprise moves the over-grown Boy Blunder has up his sleeve.

It's true that DD has been Affleckized - but so also has Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan.

On the other hand, girly-man Affleck might make a good NW.

First off... Daredevil would beat Nightwing to within a pulse of his life and then have him convicted for a crime he didn't commit... Then he would out batman, destroy his empire and beat batman too...
Batman is awesome... but he's no daredevil. Those that voted for nightwing should give me your address so I can send the cops over... there's some obvious heavy drug usage going on.

OK that's overstating it. I voted for Daredevil against Boy Blunder - but not against the Bat, no way.
Daredevil, as you point out, has a fatal character flaw- in that he's a lawyer. But Batman is filthy rich - he can buy a FLEET of the best lawyers. Maybe even Johnny Cochran, if he were still alive- who would immediately deploy the Chewbacca defense, and completely disable DD's feeble attempt to "destroy his empire"
I know Batman, and Daredevil is no Batman.

Anywho, a battle between these two (if done right) would probably
be down right amazing. I say this because at their best both heroes would
probably go as far as killing the other if the chance need to be taken. Well, that's that.
