Hello people - would love to hear your comments and crits on this before I ink. If something sucks I need to know or if something rocks I need to know that too :)

good job. don't be afraid to let objects close to one another overlap. for example, the cape on the left side could probably go behind the arm. another thing you could work on is the leg on the right--it's oriented too straight ahead. try turning it a little, maybe show a little heel.

Suggestions:Look at it in the mirror or put it face down on a light table to get a second look at it. My favorite trick.

As for individual points.
1. I like the hair. The eyes seems a little too far up on the face and the nose a little too high but this could be a style choice. If it is, cool. Overall, I LIKE the face and she is a beauty just the way you drew her.
2. Like Antquinonez said:don't be afraid to let objects close to one another overlap. The cape seems a little flat and having some wind pick it up and make it ripple a bit would help add depth.
3. Think more of depth. I do like the right leg and the way it folds under but the skirt needs to be affected by the leg being lifted a bit more. The "S" symbol needs to be looked at a bit more and made more 3 dimensional. Draw a line down the center of her body and see how that line matches up with: the superman symbol, her abs, and the "V" shape her belt makes.
4. On anatomy and proportion: The left foot looks a bit off. It looks like her ankle is broken and her foot is flat. You may wish to get some photo reference of ballet dancers which I have always found as an excellent resource for figures in flight. I admire the way you have hinted at musculature without making her unfeminine. Very well done. Her forearms and hands seem a bit large but this may too be a stylistic choice.

Overall I like the figure very much. can't wait to see her done and inked. I hope I helped.

She reminds me of Kristen Kreuk w. abs.

I'd tighten up the midsection a little - but that's just my preference. Nothing wrong with your way. Typically, large ribcages are for the fella's, but it can work for some of the super-powered ladies, if that's where the pencil takes you.

She-hulk for instance. I suppose it can work for Supergirl too, though the classic look is very feminine.

Along with what has been said, I notice that the shirt needs to be redrawn,
it's not falling the way the fabric would, you might try looking in magazines to see how the skirt would lay or you could set up some fabric.

Thanks so much for your comments - you guys are great and pretty much spot on. I will go back and fix a few things and post the results here.

Skipping most of the other comments, as I agree with them, I would adjust both her nose and mouth more to Supergirl's left. It definitely strikes me as being off-center. Also, I would probably adjust her neck a little more to her right

Also, her left leg is very rigid like an arrow. Unless she's trying to imitate Luffy's Gum-Gum Windmill, let her knee bend slightly forward, and her foot to tilt like at a 110 degree angle or so. Use your own leg as a guideline.

and, oh yeah, the line of the arm shouldn't merge so well with the cape, on the right. bring that cape further out to the sides.

Thanks again for your help - I had my laptop next to my drawing desk with everyone's comments and it helped so much. I have made quite a few changes (some very brave ones) and she looks great!! Can't wait to finish the pencils and share.

Howdy people. Here are the amended pencils taking in comments I got from here and some other sites. Not sure if they are finalised yet - she looks quite different to the original but I think she looks better. Let me know what you think.

Oh and in other news some of my fan art was used in the Superman Returns trailer this week!! I couldn't believe it myself! It was the scene in the clouds.

Oh yea, much better. You could also maybe slim up her foot. It looks a bit wide as is. this flows much better though.

yeah I wanted to soften the look - at first I wanted her to look strong yet feminine but it didn't quite work. The new pose has more balance - I am going to make a couple of tweaks and then try get this inked and coloured.

I like the changes you've made to her hands and the angle of her left leg as well as the dimensions of her right leg.

As antquinonez said, watch those tangents.

I look forward to seeing this colored. I think it would be sweet to see it done w/ watercolor...
