This film is getting a screening at my local film festival soon, have any of you genre film types seen it? It's not available on DVD down here as far as I know, and I've heard a lot of good things. Is it as good as it's hyped up to be? Sounds like it kicks ass to me

Near Dark is my absolute favorite "vampire" film.
I never considered it "hyped up," but it definitely has a cult following.
So you guys didn't get the SE DVD that came out a few years back? Gotta love Anchor Bay for giving it the treatment it deserved.

Oh hell yes, dude!
If you have the chance to see this in anything remotely resembling a theater, do so.
I'll temper my enthusiasm with the reaction a friend had to Near Dark when I showed it to him and his wife. He thought it was one of the stupidest genre movies he's ever seen, for technical reasons that we can discuss after you see the movie.
However, I say he was taking things out of context and that it was a fabulous movie.
Lance Henriksen rox! :D

I know a lot of people love this movie, but it did nothing for me. I loved the concept, but maybe the redneck vampires just weren't redneck enough for me. It's one of those movies that I should have been a lot better than it was.
Your mileage may vary, of course.
