I've been giving some thought to background drawing, and the importance of the skill in drawing comics.
How about we find reference photos of cities, cafes, and such and just have a scheduled session where Penciljackers practice up on drawing the inane stuff they don't regulary focus on drawing?
The goal wouldn't be accuracy, so much as rendering the scene so that it is recognizable. Sort of like the bang up stuff in the Will Eisner sketchbook. Although crazy technical drawing is swank too. Like those insane Japanese location photoreference books.
Where could we put it?
I'm leaning towards the illustration lab.
